Found a documentary about this lesser known apparition that happened in the early 80s and was approved by the Vatican. (This is first in a series of videos on youtube.)
 
These visionaries predicted the bloodshed that would happen a decade later. 
 
Also part of this amazing story and advocate of Kibeho is Immaculée Ilibagiza, a woman who experienced the genocide first hand and survived it by hiding in a bathroom and praying the rosary for months. Almost all of her entire family was murdered but she forgave the man who murdered them.

Strongly recommend Illibagiza's books on the topic, "Our Lady of Kibeho" and "The Boy Who Met Jesus" (note: the boy's apparitions have not been approved) - she ties so much of her own life into the books.

 

I find this apparition fascinating - like you said, this one is approved, yet until last year, I'd never even heard about it.
