AugustineA
Postin pics. :bounce: So this is the Baronius Press publication of the Roman missal based on the 1960 edition by Laverty and Sons and in association with the FSSP. It shipped from London to Western Canada in 8 days. The leather is really quite thick and rigid. The inside cover has a beautiful blue lining. The ribbons are braided. The outer page is partially glued to the inside lining, a sign of good craftsmanship. The binding is not too tight, which is very important and another sign of good craftsmanship and durability. The gilding is beautiful. I think I've only seen better gilding once before. In terms of content, I've never used or read one of these before, so if anyone has any tips or must-knows for this big chunky thing, let me know. For those of you who don't know, this is one of a handful of missals used for the Traditional Latin Mass or the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite of Mass as we now say. It did come with a reference card to familiarize oneself with the order of Mass. look at that leather.. pretty much half a cow. the artwork is really incredible. Tons of theology in here. I'm surprised because I thought the book of Christian Prayer had alot of theology to enjoy and meditate on, but this is another level of depth. Golden Years
Just like mine. Only mine is in Burgundy. Has every prayer known to mankind for every occasion. And all the stuff I was supposed to learn for Confirmation but didn't quite. The Seven Deadly Sins and the seven opposite virtues. The Theological Virtues. The Precepts of the Church. The Acts of Mercy. Good stuff!!!
AugustineA
U.S. Good stuff, I'll ask at church and on a traditional forum I post on. Burgundy would be nice. It's chalk full of prayers right! Are you a convert? It's peculiar, and I think not a good thing, that the whole process of attending a traditional Mass and parish is like a conversion process unto itself. I love the little old ladies who taught us at RCIA, but we were simply not catechized in the basics of the Church, and it was kind of startling to see all those awesome basic teachings right at the front of the missal. Really good stuff.. :]

Really good stuff.. :] I am. And not catechized very well in a formal sense unfortunately. So yes I was very glad to find so much of it there in my 1962 Missal!
