Seven77
I'm really struggling with a way to most accurately answer the question how was our redemption accomplished? I know that we do not believe as Catholics that Jesus was *punished* in our place by a wrathful bloodthirsty deity. But how can it be that Jesus freely took upon himself the *punishment* in order to do away with it as some Catholic writers seem to suggest? Is it not more correct to say that Jesus made satisfaction for our sins by freely absorbing the consequences of sin, by entering the solidarity with fallen man, thereby destroying them ( the consequences of sin)? Why and how do these consequences actually still remain after God dying and ripping death to shreds? Please give me some clarity on this matter... how can I best understand what Jesus did on the Cross? How can I best understand what it means to say that *Jesus died for me.* Edited April 13, 2014 by Seven77
