Jesuit Priest Murdered In Syria

Fr Frans was a jesuit priest and therapist. He moved to Homs, Syria, 50 years ago. He served the christians and

especially the handicapped and mentaly ill. He also tried to start dialogue with his muslim neighbours.

He was known as a man of peace.

As we all know, Syria is in a civil war. Fr Frans was offered to come back to the Netherlands, but he refused.

After all, he could not leave his people behind: the last christians in the city, the last friendly muslim neighbours.

He had devoted his life to God to serve these people and he would not leave them. Even when there was no food left,

and he would share a thin soup made of weed.

In Januari this year, he became world wide news because of his desperate cry for help on youtube:

This morning I received very shocking news.

Fr Frans was dragged out of his home by masked, armed men. They shot him twice in the head.

No one has "claimed" this brutal attack but the order of Jesuits have confirmed his death. He was burried today in Homs.

Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy.

By God's grace, some of us will receive the white crown of a holy life. Others will receive the red crown of martyrdom.

Prayers for Fr. Frans, his family and the community that loved him, and for the souls of his murderers.  :cry3:

Probably a pacifist too. Non violent pacifist murdered. What a bunch of weaklings that they have to pick on the pacifists that don't fight back.

God love him, and I hope the hearts of those who did this are changed. This event draws similar parallels with that of Charles de Foucauld and the monks of Tibhirine

Pope Francis said the assassination of ‘my confrere,’ a 75-year-old Dutch Jesuit in Syria, ‘filled me with deep sadness and made me think again of all the people who suffer and are dying in that martyred country’,
