AugustineA
It's quiet at work.. I decided to make a quick Our Father.. and a Hail Mary.. Phone rings.. I pick up the line.. Proceed to greet a client with "Our Father who Hi, how can I help you?" :paperbag: Beware the dangers of office prayer.
maximillion
Yup, one that on a few times. We had a Sister in the convent who had Tourettes. Not wishing to be horrid to people who do, but there were times when that was funny, embarrassing and a whole lot of other things too.
Pia Jesu
Sitting in my cubicle... I check out the "My Confessor" iPhone app...to hopefully utter the words "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned" in perfect anonymity. Oops...it's the boss...asking me, "What exactly is it that you want to confess?" (Note: Advertised as the "perfect app" for penitents, it's a Catholic Church sanctioned guide to be used in the confessional, not a replacement for it!") AugustineA
Haha wow.. What did you say? I actually use a similar app. It's so thorough though it's somewhat uncomfortable. Which is a good thing.. It's called MeaCulpa Pro.
Pia Jesu
Similar to what you said on the phone, I mumbled, "Not work-related, Fath..., I'm mean Mr. X. Fortunately, he's a good Catholic guy, smiled and walked away. The humiliation was a good "penance" for me!
AugustineA
haha.. nice wow you actually know other Catholics in the work place. :( My work is literally anti-Catholic. Both my bosses are very openly homosexual, promote all the sort of advocacy groups we disagree with actively in the workplace and encourage putting them on yearly performance reports. They have the rainbow flag flying on the second floor. The manager's office is across from mine, and last night I heard them talking about how stupid Good Friday was. The night before there were two women with him talking about how they will marry and divorce to take a man's money, and one just cut off all her hair and wants to divorce her husband as soon as she can take the kids. They seem like nice people, down to earth, friendly to coworkers, but the moral environment fostered there.. It's hard to concentrate on my work sometimes. They know I'm Catholic through small things I do and wear, and we all get along, but I dunno.. It's not easy. :(

Spem in alium
AugustineA that has to be hard.... Agreed. That would be very difficult. Props to you. :)
maximillion
I would find all of that so hard. Props and prayers.
Pia Jesu
Hope you have a priest-friend or spiritual director you can talk to about this, AugustineA! Advice on how one lives out his/her faith in such an environment needs to come from a trusted source. Though moral and ethical problems seem pervasive at your workplace, it sounds like you have created a Chirst-centered presence. Stay strong and know that we are praying for you. AugustineA
Thanks for the encouragement! I don't Pia. I'm actually really quiet in person and just moved to a new parish. So I still have to talk to people, maybe make some acquaintances, speak with the priest there. The only Catholics I talk to are you guys and some people on twitter. :P
Pia Jesu
Trust that "all things shall be well" (Julian of Norwich). Yes, there are many like-minded sister and brother-souls out here...and God will surely send one--in person--to help guide you!
