Fidei Defensor
Love is patient (1 Cor. 13:4). Love is dying at the hands of your own creation, hanging upon a cross fashioned from trees once bursting with life but now lifeless and harrowing death. Quietly He waits, patiently, for the inevitable end—the end which is a new beginning. Through patient love, He redeems those who would leave him hang to die, that they might not simply live their earthly lives and perish, but should know the true happiness of salvation. His patience brings beauty to otherwise ugly death. His patience means that everything in creation should finally be worthy of redemption through his passion and suffering. Patience and waiting upon the Holy Cross—true love—sows the seeds of renewal of all creation which sprout upon his glorious resurrection and grow into the beauty of salvation.
