Basilisa Marie
The idea of Islam as "the religion of peace" refers to the word, Islam, an Arabic word denoting submission to the Divine Will. In Islamic theology this submission of will and intellect is the only source of authentic peace. Hence Islam as "the religion of peace." The peace refers to inner tranquility of the soul. Mohammad was a warrior and made war as his profession. In this he was not unlike the Kings of Israel. Dropped into this thread to say that ^, turns out it was already said. NotreDame
I've responded to the aspect of the question that I am interested in debating. As usual you've responded to what you've wanted to respond to and to nothing else... you haven't answered why you think the points are "ignorant" and "racist" or why you feel compelled to make thinly (and not so thinly) veiled personal attacks so often. And your point is? I don't want to get in the weeds with the dicta before addressing the heart of the question. I'm sorry that that so deeply offends you. However it's my prerogative to respond as I wish. If you don't like it then feel free to disregard me.
NotreDame
And your point is? That you have a tendency to make personal attacks off the bat rather than engage in discussion, then you are evasive when called out on it. And rest assured I would ignore you if I thought you'd return the favor. I asked you to do that once already and you said no. I will, however, refrain from name-calling and personal attacks, although I don't expect your behavior in that area to change.

4588686
http://www.aaronmbrown.net/blog/2012/04/know-your-fallacy-category-error/ Two muffins are sitting in an oven, baking. One muffin turns to the other and says: “Is it just me, or is it getting really hot in here.†The second muffin turns to the first and says: “Holy crap, a talking muffin!†The above joke is funny, largely because it commits a logical fallacy called a category error, and then immediately turns around and calls itself on it. It’s generally accepted that muffins can’t talk and so to ascribe them that ability is ridiculous. Ascribing a quality or set of qualities to an object that can’t possibly possess them is called a category error.

Yes you absolutely have been evasive in your answers thus far and you continue to be. Further, calling an argument bigoted rather than addressing it's substance is a form of evasiveness in and of itself...

Further, calling an argument bigoted rather than addressing it's substance is a form of evasiveness in and of itself... I am addressing the substance of the article. I am pointing out that the thesis if the article is fundamentally incoherent. I have pointed this out to you several times now and yet you have yet again decided to not address that point but rather whine about how you dislike my tone and me. Would you like to address the logical fallacy contained in the thesis of the article or would you like to point out, for the umpteenth time, that my tone and disposition gives you a big sad? You can talk (I think) and type. And as long as you are going to call people around here racist with no basis I am going to call you on it, regardless of how many times you try to change the subject. The subject of this thread is "Islam: Religion of Peace?" so pointing out that the thesis of the article commits a logical fallacy (category error) is actually exactly on subject. Again, another example of evasiveness... You started by saying "the points you listed are largely ignorant and, for lack of a better word, racist"... casting aspersions on both the article and poster and anyone who would agree those points are relevant... But now you are backtracking to talk about title and the "thesis", but that's not what you or I were talking about. It's the points you called racist... twice now.
