Depends on your friend.  When talking to my non-Catholic friends about the faith, I always wait until something comes up that we both have in common, or that we're both having issues with at the moment.  Then I just talk about what the church teaches and talk about how it's helped me...  There is no one right answer.  Sure, the Mass is a huge part of our faith, but maybe your friend would go and not find it meaningful and be turned off from the faith.
