Isidore_of_Seville
Provide evidence that promiscuity was just as rampant before the pill as it is today. Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
PhuturePriest
Hundreds of animals engage in sexual activity for nonproductive reasons. It's not stupid, it's a natural desire. Natural desire is often difficult to overcome, look at the obesity rates in our country, for example. Our goal should not be to label some irresponsible and walk away. The goal should be to understand the issue and work on ways to overcome it, like education! "Having choices, making decisions based on more than instinct is the only thing that separates you from that animal." -- John Lock -- Lost I agree with you completely. That doesn't make having unprotected sex despite not wanting children any less logically stupid.

But I grow tired of explaining things. 2 outa 3 ain't bad, so I'll take it. Especially since one of them is the Bible. Do you have Skype? If you aren't seeing the way these dots are connected then there is a lot that we have to talk about it, so much in fact that it would be silly to do it in any other way but through a voice or video chat. Just in case you're not open to skype, here is some proof, as you had requested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States#Before_Roe_v._Wade As you'll notice, in the 30s, well before Roe v Wade, when Abortion was considered a felony in all states, an etimated 800,000 abortions were had each year. Compared to today's 1.2 million, that's not a very big jump in the course of almost 100 years, especially considering the fact that the total population went from 92 million to over 300 million in that same time span. Per capita, there are actually already less abortions now that it's legal than when it was illegal before Roe v Wade. Note that in the '30s there was the Great Depression, which I am certain added to the numbers greatly. To refute your idea that King Henry VIII and a few societies being promiscuous disproves me, however, please note that you cited one person and a few civilizations that were notoriously sexual. And they collapsed thousands of years ago. Can you cite a Christian society (Like America pretty much was and still somewhat is) that was incredibly sexual promiscuous? PhuturePriest
What? I did... America before Roe v Wade! All I see is you citing abortion during the '30s, not sexual promiscuity. And I'm sorry, unless you have a documented study that asked every one of these women why they had abortions and they said "Child out of wedlock," it's logical to assume they had these abortions because of the Great Depression. When people are starving and have no jobs, it's not surprising if abortion is rampant.
