Basilisa Marie
The State rapes people when dogs tell them the person might have drugs on them. Forgive me for thinking that having professional rapists determine who may possess firearms is an incredibly stupid idea. Excuse me, I find your cavalier use of the word "rape" to be incredibly offensive.
Winchester
Excuse me, I find your cavalier use of the word "rape" to be incredibly offensive. It's not cavalier at all. You can look up the incidences if you like. Your ignorance does not mean I am being cavalier about sexual assault. I don't like sexual assault of any sort. Whether it's done by men in costumes or not. I don't apply different moral norms to people who declare themselves government. I apply the same rules to everyone, and that means tormenting people by molesting them and penetrating their bodies by the side of the road is rape. You think that's cavalier? I have a daughter. She's going to drive a car someday. I'd prefer that she not be dragged out of it and have some thug's hands violate her because a stupid dog barks at her car. Like I said, look up the incidents. Your ignorance does not make me "cavalier". Edited March 10, 2014 by Winchester
Winchester
Here's a good starting point: http://libertyfight.com/2013/texas_troopers_illegal_search_ID_and_raping_women_statewide.html I'm so sick of authority cultists I could f-ing puke.
Basilisa Marie
You can plaster me as ignorant all you want, it's disgusting that you're using rape to make a point in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with it. You should be ashamed of yourself.
NotreDame
Excuse me, I find your cavalier use of the word "rape" to be incredibly offensive. I originally read this as tongue in cheek and thought it was pretty funny... I really, really, really hope you aren't serious.

If it was tongue in cheek, which was my original interpretation too, it's in incredibly poor taste. Rape jokes are never funny. If it's not tongue in cheek, which is how he's explaining it, it's still in incredibly poor taste. It has nothing to do with the topic, and turns rape into a tool to shock people. Slappo
Excuse me, I find your cavalier use of the word "rape" to be incredibly offensive. He's not talking about a pat down and search of the pockets. He's talking about a non-consensual cavity search which is essentially rape.

What's funny is she isn't even offended on behalf of the law enforcement officers that Winchester is calling rapists. She's offended in an existential, universal-victim sort of way. BM, I read your remark as tongue-in-cheek... and got a laugh out of it. It was only in your later post I figured out you were serious and I was all... PhuturePriest
Alright, so now that this is a completely different topic, I will put in my two cents on the new one. I am a person that has no sense of comedic shame, in that I pretty much find anything at least kind of funny. But too often in our society, we joke about things which should not be joked about. If I had a dollar every time I heard someone joke about rape, date rape, incest, sexual abuse, etc, I would be a rich man. But the people who make those jokes never think about the way they could come off to people who have had one of those things happen to them. I have a friend who was sexually assaulted, and one of her friends on Facebook posted a date rape joke. She was mortified, and asked him to take it off and told him it wasn't funny. Instead of being an intelligent human being, he started making fun of her for being "too sensitive", never once considering the fact that maybe she was "too sensitive" about it is because she had something similar happen to her. His reaction made her depressed and I had to talk to her all night until four in the morning, trying in vain to calm her down, trying to get her to stop crying and telling her that it was okay. So I'll say it again: sex abuse jokes are not funny.
