Son Of God Movie

I have a hard time getting over my own cynicism with these types of films. Images of a modelesque Anglo Jesus and stirring Hollywood music deter me. It's unlikely I'll ever see it, so I may as well linger in this thread and see how other people enjoyed it.

Now the movie Noah on the other hand... I may have to pull my hypocritical self to go see that one.  :saint2:

I'm watching it today. I am fully aware that it will probably be bad, because it's made by the same people who did the Bible television series last year, and I can't imagine they suddenly got amazing in just a year.

This is a review of it made by a guy whose reviews I like watching.

The trailer looked really cheesy, stupid, and stereotypical.  I'd be surprised if it was good.

It just seemed to be better directed or something, I watched both the series and the movie and I liked the movie better.

I watched it yesterday. I would have enjoyed it had not a few long-running errors continued throughout the entire movie. The first one is of course the fact that Mary Magdalene is with Jesus and the Apostles throughout the entire movie, even though the Bible makes no reference to any constant companions of Jesus other than the Apostles themselves. This says to me they were trying to be PC and cool. Another thing that annoyed me was the fact John was portrayed as a middle-aged man, when in fact when Jesus chose him he could not have been older than 15. They completely botched the institution of the Eucharist, and finally, I found it quite interesting that Mary (Jesus' mother), a middle-aged Jewish woman in 33 AD Jerusalem, had shaved legs. When I tell people that, everyone who saw the movie asks me "When did they show her legs?" Quite briefly, when Jesus falls while carrying the cross, Mary runs over and gets on the ground, showing her left leg for several seconds.

I have an uncanny ability to spot details like that. Or I am in fact a creeper. My song seems to suggest the latter.
