NotreDame
Are we really having a humble contest? It's not a contest, the comparison was simply for contrast to help illustrate what sacrifice and humility really are. Doing something that's not a real sacrifice and doing it ostentatiously is by definition not humble. That doesn't make it bad. It just means it's not humble. However, since we are in a world bereft of sacrifice, most don't know it when they see it.
CrossCuT
I think this is a lot of opinion. Its ok to just not like someone. But I dont think you can really quantify personal taste to where you start saying that one is better than the other. Its good if you like it. CrossCuT
Everything is opinion. It's good if you like it. lolz... No, not everything is opinion. But when it comes to whether or not we think a person is humble or not...that is opinion. First of all, none of us actually live with the Pope, we are just as much subject to media portrayals as anyone else. If you dont like the Pope, thats your choice and thats fine. But dont sit here and tell the rest of us that your version of humble is what is lagging in the current pope. I dont find that he has a lack of humility. Well, If you read my posts you'll see I've been trying to focus on actions. I can't judge any man or his intent, but certainly his actions taken at face value - as I've described - are more ostentatious than humble. CrossCuT
Well, If you read my posts you'll see I've been trying to focus on actions. I can't judge any man or his intent, but certainly his actions taken at face value - as I've described - are more ostentatious than humble. You've only seen the actions that are hair picked by the media. I dont think you have a good enough idea to claim to have an all knowing stance on the issue. If you want to make a personal choice to dislike this pope, then whatevs. But dont talk like you have all the answers. And actions can still be interpreting through a personal lens thus those conclusions can also be opinion. Edited March 7, 2014 by CrossCuT
