"communion & Liberation"?

I'm reading an article about corporate social responsibility in Italy, and this organization came up. What is it? I've heard of it before, but I don't know what they do, what their reputation is, how they stand with the Church, etc.

Anybody know?

I have some friends who are part of that group. They're engaged. My friend J doesn't much like it, he says it's too shallow for him, but then again, he's like super-Ignatian and can't stand it when people want to skip doing the discernment part of discernment of spirits. :P But I wouldn't say they're bad.

they're a good organization. they're on the up and up. then Cardinal Ratzinger gave the homily at Fr. Giussani's funeral Mass. Fr. Giussani was friends with both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

we used to have some members who were involved in CL but I don't think they post anymore.

I don't like any of these new sects.  Like Arfink mentioned, none practice real discernment, instead they tend to practice manipulation.  They misunderstand the Church's approach to obedience - usually over-emphasizing too much obedience, too soon and they do it in the context of lay people, not as an evangelical counsel - and I haven't come across one with any unique spirituality of note, despite how special they try to make themselves appear.

C&L, NeoCats, Opus Dei, Regnum Christi, (and trust me, the list goes on) stay away.  Our salvation is through the Church.  Period.

Why discern when they've already discerned for you and saved you the trouble, right?
