Poor soul that you are... lol

I have a lot of respect and admiration for the German people.  I believe history (the popular history) has judged them unfairly.

History is rather selective. For instance, you don't often hear about the British blocking the ports in Germany during WWI, causing the mass starvation of thousands.

I sincerely hope you do not hold the above convictions too strongly.

If you read Hitler's book you will gain a much better understanding of his hatred of Jews, although in my opinion unfounded there is a certain logic to it.  He was not a moron not a crazed lunatic.  In my reading thus far I can see how his writing to this day inspires hatred and seduces many in his line of thinking.

As for his hatred of the French, thus far he feels no need to explain it.  Its like he takes for granted that everyone knows inherently and by simple instinct the that French are obviously trash of the worse sort.

Which ones concern you?

I have not read mein kampf.  how quickly can you summarize his reasons for it?  I assumed the economic collapse brought on by the hyper-inflation made it easier for him to find appeal since the populace was looking for a  scapegoat.

He probably doesn't need to explain it to a german audience because the french were such jerks after the treaty of versaille.  The british (including Keynes) and the americans were both trying to get the French to chill out about treaty enforcement as the situation in Germany became progressively worse.

You mean the French were jerks then a lot like the US are jerks today?

I'm not done reading the book.  Regardless - you should take the time to read it yourself in my opinion.

They were jerks in that the USA came in and really helped them overwhelm the germans, giving them a ton of leverage at versaille and unrealistic reparations in the treaty that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

When it was clear the german economy was collapsing, rather than back off like the british and americans wanted, the french disagreed and kept renegotiating (to compensate for the falling mark), and finally invaded the ruhr as an effort to get their pound of flesh.

that's how I understand it.  Kind of jerky.

The French aren't known for their superb senses of kindness and forgiveness.

There's a reason for that.

So is fair to conclude that racism against the French is justified.

Darn it, and I'm catholic too, so I guess I'm free game all around huh?

Even more so than Hitler.

You have a great way to escalating one's esteem.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying to be "racist" against the French, only that the French were guilty of some wrongs - or at least excesses - against the Germans post WWI

it's not racist because you're not referring to the French as a people, you are referring to the French government at the time.

Actually - Hitler hated the French long before WWI...

How much do you really know about history?

I once sat in on an argument in Spanish between my French and German roommates debating who was worse, Hitler or Napoleon - and it was a very serious, heated debate.

As for Hitler, I'm sure he could have had a myriad of reasons.  In this context I was simply pointing out that, as I understood it, post-WWI, any anti-french attitudes on the part of the Germans would be understandable.

And I am sure with regard to history that I do not know enough and never will.
