random thought, but are we making a big assumption saying this is just for one person?  Usually rectories have space for not just the parish priests, but visiting priests as well (same could be said for living quarters of religious.)

You all need to start giving 10% of your income after tax if your going to complain about schools getting shut down. :) Or give it when you do get a job, and encourage others to do the same without proselytising them. But anyhow a poor church is a church of one spirit THE SPIRIT OF GOD and has nothing to do with finances in my books. And also i heard that the church will always be in debt because if she isn't she isn't giving away enough money even if everyone where to cut there cloak in half and give 50%. You know 10% of a dollar is 10 cents and you get to keep 90 cents, not much difference. And also when you for whatever reason can't give 10% God loves a joyful giver whatever you can afford. I think Tobit said " When you have alot give alot, and when you have a little than only give a little but don't be ashamed of the little you can give." Have a look at the homeless guy on the street corner, how poor actually are you?

P.s. As long as the new extension is used appropriately, sounds like all the bishops, priests and deacons of the diocese of newyawk have a great new retreat place, and not just those from newyawk but i'm sure other priests, bishops and cardinals U.S wide and world wide even.

 

P.s.s.  Flout envy, replace it with trust. 

 

P.s.s. i can't promise there will never be another scandal in the holy roman catholic church in the u.s or otherwise, but we must trust the authority of the holy roman catholic church more than we trust our governments, the media etc.
