ThereseMaria
When I was younger, I had heard that Judas Iscariot and Peter both done something wrong (Judas betrayed Jesus, Peter denied Him), but the difference between the two was that Judas had assumed he could not be forgiven and commit suicide, while Peter repented and became head of the Church. I was wondering, if Judas Iscariot had not commit suicide and had repented, could he have been forgiven? Does the Church have any view on this? CatherineM
Everyone can be forgiven. He lost hope. He didn't have faith. He turned away. He ran away. These are the various things that people believe of Judas. The truth is we do not know what was in his heart. Evenso, we still do not know what his judgment was because that's not up to us. It's up to Jesus to decide his fate. Could he have been forgiven? Certainly.
