So I am taking advantage of my day off to call my insurance company to find out about infertility coverage.There are apparently some other potential avenues we can go down instead of plain old ivf/egg donation that will at least make keeping a pregnancy more likely. So my doctor told me to call the ins company and find out if surgery is covered.

 

I called and the girl was so rude and had an attitude. She kept saying IVF is not covered. I kept telling her, I am not interested in IVF. I am not calling about IVF! I'm trying to find out if surgery for underlying conditions (like endometriosis, for instance) is covered!

 

I was so frustrated and embarrassed (I hate confrontational situations, even when I'm the customer) and I hate talking to strangers about my infertility. My cheeks were burning the whole time from embarrassment. I can never bring myself to be firm with a phone rep who is nasty to me, my voice just gets quieter and quieter and I just start agreeing with whatever they're saying so they'll stop being mean. I got so upset I pretended our line dropped and hung up the phone... maybe one day I'll have the chutzpah to ask for a supervisor and actually get my question resolved. you think? Please pray that I can stop feeling like carp about this.
