PhuturePriest
I'm wearing a kilt for my showcase. I'm going to wear one of the kilts below with a black jacket and white shirt. The issue is, I can't decide which kilt to wear! I look really good in both colors, and I can't decide. Pliny
Sorry, I can't advise you regarding your specific question, but I do recommend (and sincerely hope and pray) that you wear underwear.

IgnatiusofLoyola
LOL! A dancing performance IS different than everyday wear. With dancing, there is a greater chance that the kilt could accidentally show more than you intended. And, however unlikely, falling is a possibility, depending on what dances you do. I suggested sports shorts, because if a "wardrobe malfunction" did occur, no one could accuse you of showing your underwear in public. If you wear the kilt, be sure to wear the wool knee high socks, including the knife in your sock! (I know there is a special word for the knife, but I can't think of it right now.) I've never heard anyone call Sean Connery a "sissy" when he wore a dress kilt in public! The kilt is actually quite modest. When the kilt is worn in the traditional way, the only part of a man's legs that shows is his knees. The kilt is actually more modest than if a man wore tight trousers. And thanks! I've been asking around, and it seems it's a stalemate between red and green. I like the green more, but the red seems more formal. When I think of myself in them, though, I think I'll look better in the green.

I feel like I should probably know this by now, but what is this for again? Do you do Scottish dancing or something? :p

My instructor mentioned wearing a kilt jokingly, but I wanted to buy a kilt anyway, so this is a great excuse. :P

PhuturePriest
If you are doing swing dancing, you will DEFINITELY need to wear sports shorts under the kilt. :shocking: I'm doing swing dancing for this routine. However, men don't really do a lot of crazy stuff in any sort of dancing. They're generally leading and initiating, and the girls are doing most of the physical work. Thus far, I'm not doing anything that will make my kilt fly up in the air. I am doing lots of spins and cool things like that, but no high kicks in the air or anything. PhuturePriest
I have decided on the color, and have perhaps a stupid reason why: Royal Stewart is the official color of Queen Elizabeth II. I greatly admire her and her father, King George VI, and so therefore have chosen the Royal Stewart tartan for that reason. Also, I saw the picture of the green one on a person, and it's lighter than it is here in the picture.
Lilllabettt
Queen Elizabeth II presided over the dissolution of the British Empire. And aren't kilts a Scottish thing? Scots and the Queens and Kings of England aren't exactly bffs you know.

King George VI married a Scottish woman, and they were enthralled with all things Scottish, mending a lot of gaps between the English and Scottish. I guess Queen Elizabeth just carried on that torch. It's customary for monarchs in England to have their own special tartan color.
