I Just Deleted My Facebook Account

And since I can't write this as a status update to all 70 of my facebook friends, I'm posting it here. I have an excessive almost compulsive need for random and succinct forms of semi-anonymous self-expression. And I have to wait for 14 days until it's deleted for good.

I'm nervous

If that's the case, why didn't you just switch over to 4chan or Imgur?

I've never created a Facebook account for privacy reasons. Long story that I'm not going to discuss here.

Also, I've been reading about changes that Facebook has been making that could compromise the privacy of its users. Don't bother asking for details because I can't remember the changes since they didn't affect me. Only that when I read about the changes, I decided that my decision to never open a Facebook account in the first place was a good one. So, if you have a Facebook account, and aren't keeping up with changes, you might want to do some research about it. I'm sure some people won't mind the changes--everyone is different.

I did find it interesting that Facebook has apparently been losing a few hundred thousand users a month, and some pundits have predicted it will soon go the way of MySpace. I don't know whether that prediction is correct or not, but I think Facebook's popularity is decreasing, at least right now.

Be strong, Grasshopper. The next 2 weeks will be trying. I remember. I kept thinking "I'll reactivate it just for today/this weekend/ this very important thing, and then I'll just deactivate again..." but then I would remind myself that I used to have a life; I used to have fun, read books, talk to people - until Facebook came along and robbed my vital energies and ate my brain. I destroyed it before it could altogether destroy me. I survived, and you will too.

The numbers don't agree with that assertion. Facebook continues to grow. Google+ is also growing extremely fast.

I use 'em for business. And I tend to keep things locked down pretty hard, but it doesn't always work out. Concerning privacy on the net, I'd be more worried about your non-tech-savvy friends finding out things about you through a sloppy night of drinking and facebook than I would about hackers, because if they want the dirt on you they'll get it, and you won't be able to stop them.

I would probably die from sadness. Facebook is a way I keep in touch with a lot of good friends and learn a lot of Catholic news, as well as follow awesome Catholic people.

Facebook is losing ground with younger people. Businesses and us old phogies are keeping it healthy. Teens started being weirded out that their grandmas could see their posts on their boyfriend's wall.

I consider fb to be nothing less than evil (sorry, IMO), and some have said it is the evil uses some people make of it but I do believe in corporate responsibility, and again IMO fb are not, never have been , never will be socially and morally responsible.

I use this site and one other restricted online forum for connecting with people on the net and that is it.

Good on yer for ditching it! You don't need the agro.

It's not only the privacy it is the diclaimer the ' i agree to these terms and conditions.' There legally binding contracts if you click yes. You are bound by law to the terms and conditions of facebook if you click yes to the contract or any mobile app or anything that has a disclaimer or terms and conditions, i would say thoroughly read all terms and conditions but half the time there legal jargon can be so tricky that even not all lawyers can understand it and that only there employed lawyers can understand it fully. Fact! Like it or not.

I haven't been on facebook for a long time about a year or 2. How do i delete it, can you give me a step by step of how to ice_nine. I have thought it to be a bit suss for a long time with the whole instant access to singles in your area and the dark art readings(quijah, tarot, psychics etc) i discovered that the 'which X-men would you be, which famous soccer player would you be, etc etc questionnaire' leads you too.
