AveMariaPurissima
According to Canon Law, the minimum age for entrance to the novitiate is 17. (Can. 643 §1) Can exceptions be made, and if so, who would be the competent authority to grant permission? Thank you!
cappie
There can be no exceptions to this law. It's what is call an impediment of universal law and as such cannot be dispensed from. The exceptions (there are always exceptions) can be found in Canon 14 which deals with the doubt about law or fact. In this case doubt of the real age of the person.
