maximillion
My cat has fleas and I now have a cough. What are the chances these things are related? Since I did the whole nine yards thing with sprays, powder, and bombs, and was terrified he would be ill (he's quite allergy prone) seems like I am the one now having side effects. But am I or are they two random events? Oh, and he's an indoor cat so I am even more ticked off - some smurf brought them into the house, I suspect I know who and he is for it! AnneLine
My bet it is the 'clouds of glory' from the bug sprays that are at the root of your coughing. I was too allergic to those to be able to use them on my beloved Randolph ("Dolpho") (of happy memory) so the vet gave us a special shampoo to use on him (you can imagine how much he loved THAT!) which smelled exactly like coal tar. He reeked to the high heavens after his bath, and he knew it. He felt SOOOO sorry for himself. So he wanted to cuddle. For hours. With me. Euck! The things we do for the ones we love.... maximillion
My furball is so soppy he wouldn't mind if I did wash him. ANY form of touch is heaven to him. The cough has settled so maybe it was a reaction to all the chemicals. What function in the ecology is played by fleas I wonder. I am sure we could manage without them. AnneLine
I am sure that God had some good reason for them... but I haven't figured it out yet. P.S. - it is great to see you and Iggy hanging out in LameBoard. This is the BEST place to have phun, ever!!!!!

AnneLine
We want a picture of the cat.... We need to understand what we are praying for, Max.
maximillion
It will have to be a word picture as I don't do cameras! He is big, not fat, just a massive cat, I think he has some Maine Coon in him....so 7.1kg! Creamy white underneath and all paws, with tiger marmalade stripes across his back, the top of his head and down his tail. He looks like he inherited all his upper body from one parent and all the rest from another! He used to be a street cat and has tatty ears from having to fight. He lived outside KFC and even now will eat pizza crust, fried chicken, spicy wedges and cold tea, if I let him, which I don't - mainly cos we dont eat that ourselves. My foster son occasionally shares a KFC with him when he is here so that keeps both happy. He was going to be destroyed because he was taken to rescue but is fHIV+ and most people won't adopt a cat with that - they think too many vet bills. Also, his body product is lethal to other cats so he HAS to be indoors - which is great for me cos I am in a flat on the first floor. In fact he is extremely healthy, has no vet bills to date and is the most loving soppy cat. You could wear him like a scarf and he'd be happy. I have a sling for him because he loves to be near or preferably on me and because of my disability it's hard for me to hold him (and the weight!). He adapted to the sling really quickly and now comes and sits and looks at it when he wants me to put it on so he can snuggle. Oh, and yes, I am a crazy cat lady! Only two fleas this morning (yes, I comb him). So the prayer and the chemicals are working. Thanks.
