Anastasia13
I'm looking for something simple, sweet, not too loveydovey. I'd ask about cologne, but I don't know what kind he likes.
KnightofChrist
If you're thinking cologne Coolwater is good, and cheap, well a lot cheaper than some of the other not at all cheap options.
arfink
Presents I have received from my fair ladyfriend have included nice handwritten cards, books, arty stuff, etc. I don't know what sorts of generic guy things you should get because I'm a really weird guy and don't know what "normal" guys like. Luigi
I don't know how much you can afford to spend, and the monasteries are a little pricey, but if you have the cash flow, I'd recommend something edible. 1. Trappist nuns in Redwoods, CA sell creamed honey, including some flavored ones. It's kind of like butter - you have to scrape it with a knife and then spread it, but it's delicious. http://www.redwoodsabbey.org/Store/Honey/ 2. Trappist nuns in Iowa sell mints and chocolate-covered caramels. http://www.monasterycandy.com/ 3. Trappist monks in Kentucky sell cheese, fruitcake, Jack Daniels fudge, and all sorts of other things. https://www.gethsemanifarms.org/ 4. Trappist nuns in Virginia sell cheese. http://www.olamonastery.org/cheese-making/purchasing/ 5. Trappist monks in Virginia sell jams & jellies as well as fruitcake. https://www.monasteryfruitcake.org/default.asp 6. Benedictines of Perpetual Adoration handmade soaps, including shaving supplies. But watch out for the "sage" scent - it smells just exactly like marijuana (somebody should tell Sr. Mary Soapmaker - I'm pretty sure she never smelled dope). They also sell popcorn and candles. There are others, but you get the idea. If you have a monastery near you - or near the intended recipient - you might want patronize them. IgnatiusofLoyola
Don't forget another monastery who regularly posts on Phatmass (through their Novice Director, Sr. Mary Catharine), that is, the Summit Dominican nuns. Their best known products are their soaps, including some that are perfect for guys. But, since I don't know the guy you're shopping for, check out all their other offerings, too, including a wide range of Catholic books. There are items to fit all budgets. If a special present is in order, the nuns offer handmade wooden pens. Each one is unique. Not cheap ($45 plus shipping), but I suspect that a truly beautiful handmade wooden pen would cost far more in a retail store. No food offered, which is a blessing for me, since I am diabetic. I can't even visit the Web sites of all the Communities listed above, although my mouth watered just reading the list. Too much temptation. Lately, I have been treating myself instead with the Summit Dominicans' new line of candles, which smell WONDERFUL! However, I don't think of a candle as a "guy present" for some reason. Nonetheless, most of the candles do not have "feminine" scents. Still, you know the guy, I don't. The web site of the Summit Dominicans is nunsopsummit.org. When you get there, visit the Cloister Shoppe.

CrossCuT
This is not an "ooey-gooey-romancy-puke-worthy" gift. Are cookies always romantic? I thought they were just yummy!
Luigi
There's a very old saying - ask your grandmother - "The way to man's heart is through his stomach." Cookies can be romantic. Especially if you make ooey-gooey- butter-cake cookies.

KnightofChrist
If he's Catholic, a prayer card may be a good idea, something nice, but it wouldn't seem to send any wrong ideas.
