Not The Philosopher
Polycarp, because we need to get our Apostolic Fathers on.
AnneLine
AND WHAT WAS YOUR CONFIRMATION NAME, ARFINK?? Wasn't it POLYCARP? (This election is RIGGED! Last month, St. Thomas, this month, POLYCARP?) SHEEEEESH!
AnneLine
St. Anne Line: FEASTDAY: Feb 27 Wife, widow, helped Catholic priests --Jesuits!-- hide and provide the sacraments to the English faithful during the Elizabethan persecutions. Undoubtedly a better housekeeper than I ever will be..... and that lady had guts! How can you NOT select a martyr who died with these lines on her lips: "I am sentenced to die for harbouring a Catholic priest, and so far I am from repenting for having so done, that I wish, with all my soul, that where I have entertained one, I could have entertained a thousand." (in a pinch you CAN lump her in with the 40 martyrs of England and Wales on May 4th, however....)
TheresaThoma
 I shall refrain from voting this month since my suggestion was picked last month. However this discussion is quite amusing
Ed Normile
Favorite saint for February ? There is one that comes to mind immediately for an Irishman like me St Brigid of Ireland. ed

arfink
Polycarp is definitely looking like the overwhelming favorite, let's give it another day and see...
cartermia
St. Serenus the Gardener since his story is cool. And since he has one of my favorite past times in his name, none of the other saints have that.
Spem in alium
I vote Fra Angelico (Bl. Giovanni of Fiesole)! Also, Bl. Jacinta Marto. :) Edited February 6, 2014 by Spem in alium
arfink
Announcement time! St. Polycarp has been selected for this month's saint by sheer popular opinion. He was mentioned more than anybody else this time around, so he's the one. :) Everyone who mentioned him as their choice before this reply will be entered into a drawing to receive loot once his engravings are done. arfink
Well it could... perhaps... be that some people noticed a trend and said his name to get their slips into the hat, so to speak. :hehe:
AnneLine
I am gonna suggest that maybe you start the March voting in mid-Feb and you announce it say... the 10th or so.... That way we will have a chance to get our people in the running AND you get a chance to get your March person done during March. Maybe you could even offer a run-off?
