PhuturePriest
no, it implies that UD is not only orthodox, like Steubenville, but academically rigorous (unlike Steubenville, according to poster) Well, perhaps you are right. But quotes like the ones below turn me off to UD completely. There is nothing wrong with an MRS or MR degree as part of a double-major. Yes, UD is a good school, especially if you are already in Kansas. They used to call Stuebenville "stupidville" and viewed it as a charismatic type school, while they viewed themselves as more intellectual. See, sayings like that are incredibly unattractive for any type of college, but especially for one that touts Catholic orthodoxy. Being faithful is a great thing, and so is academic rigor, but if you're going to be a snobby asshat about it and totally forgo charity, all that orthodoxy and academic rigor go down the toilet. Georgetown has a terrible reputation for Catholic orthodoxy, but I would never imply the students there are unintelligent. Completely out of line.
PhuturePriest
College students making fun of a rival school? Completely out of line. A Catholic college is expected to tout charity as a golden rule, as well as academic and spiritual excellence. I've never once heard a student from Benedictine, Franciscan, or any other Catholic college, speak badly about another Catholic college, and that includes the University of Dallas. You can like the University of Dallas and prefer it. You don't have to be snobby and call Franciscan "Stupidville" just because you're convinced your college has better academic excellence. PhuturePriest
cuz you kept arguing with all the people that brought up UD instead of just saying "thanks, I'll look into it." I was too bewildered by the spectacle unfolding before me to stop it earlier on in the evening. And I did look into it, by the way. It looks like a great college, and I'm sure it's academically rigorous. It's just not my cup of tea. Not every university is for everybody. Some people are Benedictine people, some Franciscan, and some University of Dallas. There's nothing wrong with being more drawn to one college than the other. PhuturePriest
its time to name public institutions after me, don't you think? I will accept both airports and elementary schools. Not high schools, huh? Probably for the best. A lot of high schools are party schools, and I'd hate to see a school with your glorious name that was incredibly promiscuous. Lilllabettt
if you aren't careful how people use your name you can end up like Dr. Oz high school = torture chamber of social pressure + angst over where to go to college. srry kiddo

None of my friends enjoy it whatsoever, though, so you're making a good call.
