CrossCuT
My sister went there and she said she and her classmates were sad that the school store never sold items that had "FU" on them. They decided to make their own shirts that said "I got a BS from FU" :hehe2: Needless to say, she didnt fit in well at FU.
NotreDame
Needless to say, she didnt fit in well at FU. Yeah, you need to recognize what you are getting at these schools and what you are not. Taking a free-spirit or adversarial attitude at franciscan or UD like you would at a state or secular school is not going to be appreciated and it's not very appropriate either given that these schools are counter-cultural in their own way (and they are that way for the benefit of the student body.) If I had digested that fact before my time at UD I might have enjoyed it more.
PhuturePriest
Hey guys, could we possibly stay more on-topic? This thread isn't about "Ring before Spring" colleges, smoking, or whatever UD is.

My Bad. UD = University of Dallas or University of Delaware depending on who you are talking to.
PhuturePriest
oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THE MRS DEGREES. IF WE DO, I WILL REFUSE TO FURTHER PARTICIPATE IN THIS THREAD. GOODNESS. I currently attend Franciscan. (1) No, you *do* get scholarships in your first years. I'm not sure where you learned otherwise, but that's incorrect. You can also apply for returning student scholarships in the winter while you're here. (2) There's a decent amount of smokers here, but I hardly ever find it to be a nuisance. It's really not bothersome 95% of the time, as those who smoke are respectful of others for the most part, and must be 30ft from the dorms whilst smoking. Hope this helped! :) Thanks (Both for the answers and staying on-topic)! I never really considered Franciscan because my sister went to Benedictine and I just felt like I should go there, but Franciscan sounds really appealing! If I go to a university rather than seminary (Which is free), I have to think about whether or not I should go to community college first for two years. I know that economically speaking, that's the logical choice, but I can't help but feel I might be missing out on making closer friendships by doing that. UD is University of Dallas. If you are in Kansas looking for a Catholic School it should be at the top of your list.

Honestly, I kind of have my heart set on either Franciscan or Benedictine. I don't think University of Dallas could really compete.

PhuturePriest
Why do you feel that way? I have two good reasons why Franciscan is superior to the University of Dallas: Scott Hahn and Jason Evert. Scott Hahn teaches there, and Jason Evert is an alumnus. Edit: Matthew Kelly and Patrick Coffin are also alumni. Your argument is invalid. Edited February 3, 2014 by FuturePriest387
