Help Me!

I need to convince my sister to take a course, which is being taught by one of Joseph Ratzinger's doctoral students.

It's a course on Catholic theology at Harvard Divinity. Now given that the instructor is also married to a big-time feminist theologian... and some of her writings are used in a part of the course... I understand it could be a tough class. But seriously, once in a lifetime!!!! The other half of the class is on Ratzinger's work!!! By someone who was taught BY Ratzinger!!!

Her alternative is a class also at Harvard Divinity about "questing" and religious themes in literature. Give me a break, that's an English class pretending to be a divinity class. I also told her she only should take 1 fun course and make it a truly once in a lifetime choice, her other 3 courses need to be oriented toward her future career. It's her last semester and it's time to buckle down.

The other alternative is called Moral Adults about how to educate a child to be an ethical human being. Or as she calls it "character education" This is technically career-related but come on. Nobody needs to take a CLASS on that, again give me a break.

Please help me shame her into taking the Ratzinger course.

Also isn't that half the fun of a course, poking holes in the readings? Granted it could be awkward if you are poking holes in the work of the professor's womyn-priests-now WIFE. But seriously it's a crime to resist this.

YOU GET TO TAKE A CLASS FROM FRANCIS SCHUSSLER FIORENZA?

DO IT DO IT DO IT

If anything so you can say, "Yeah, I took a class from her husband, so I know for a fact that this is what Elizabeth meant, and this is why I think it's wrong."

Seriously this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it would be practically criminal to pass it up. :)

Unless you're not interested in Ratzinger.  Or Rahner.

But seriously this looks like a really great course with an okay scope about what theologians are thinking about in the last 50 years. Even if you do have to read some ESF and Elisabeth Johnson.  I think it's worth it.

Wait, you and Maggie are sisters? Why doesn't anybody tell me anything around here?

Not just sisters, we also share an identical genetic code. Be weirded out now.

What is "modern theology"? The answer affects my vote.
