PadrePioOfPietrelcino
Well, everyone it's time for me to give everyone an update especially since I don't think I've been on since this last August. I thought about posting this in VS, but decided to do it here. My first semester of formation at the seminary has ended well, and I am now a few weeks into the second semester. Things are going pretty well for me and discernment is right on track and I am finding weak points about myself which need a bit of shoring up, and I'm finding new strengths which I need to continue to hone. I am definitely NOT a morning person which makes waking up at 5:30 AM EVERYDAY a bit of a challenge for me, but it is a worthy sacrifice and an honor to pray with all wonderful men discerning their call towards the priesthood. My school is Benedictine run and it is nice to build relationships with the monks and learning about their lives. I have an Apostolic assignment assisting with a local 8th Grade Religious Ed class. Which I find a complete joy, and after giving a talk about how the Bible influenced my conversion, I've been asked to speak with two different Confirmation Classes in the surrounding area on the same topic. This caught me by surprise as I NEVER would have thought I'd be the invited speaker anywhere. The most important thing that has happened since beginning seminary...My mother just started RCIA this last week. I've seen it coming for a long time, but it took my mom by surprise when she realized she needed to join the Church. I've had the wonderful opportunity to answer a good number of her questions especially over the last week, and it is an interesting feeling having to answer the same questions I had when I was joining the Church...When do I know when to stand or kneel? What's the right way to genuflect, and why do we cross ourselves this way instead of that way? What's the red lamp...all of the practical stuff. So as my mother begins preparing to enter the Church she will be the fourth Catholic in my entire known...I have an uncle and a cousin who converted a few years before me. So that's the short end of it, I'm sure I missed something, so if you have any questions you're just dying to know, let me hear 'em.
SilentJoy
That is wonderful! Prayers for you and your family as you continue to discern your vocation.
ChristinaTherese
Nice, and that's especially wonderful about your mother. (I hope my parents and sister become Catholic too. My brother and I are the only two in the family other than our nominally Catholic nephew.)
