PhuturePriest
These are all entries from yours truly about my confessions of being a nerdy Cathoholic. Dear journal, Today, I spoke with one of my two only guy friends. He's every bit as nerdy about Catholicism and philosophy as I am, and we met when I went to visit the seminary in November. We plan to hangout on Sunday, first by going to Mass together and talking philosophy and canon law with his priest afterwards, eating lunch, and then proceeding by going to the zoo. Tonight on Facebook chat, we were talking about how we always analyze things and think about philosophical concepts, which sprung forth a very deep philosophical conversation wherein we thought of reasons why Catholicism is akin to string. We came up with at least five different reasons, from the fibers of the string representing the people of God, to how when individual strands became disentangled from the main string, it is comparable to when a man or following of people fall into heresy. #CatholicNerdFriendsForLife
Semper Catholic
You still have things you need to confess? I feel like I already know way to many things about your life.

I have merely scratched the surface. My life is simply that interesting and deep.

PhuturePriest
Almost like . . . Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. Right? Not even close. We spoke nothing about Jesus, but just the Church. String and vines are completely different.
PhuturePriest
Almost like . . . Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. Right? Our analogy is completely different. If you applied what you said about branches to string, it would be completely heretical. First off, the fibers of the string are the people, so if you converted that to a vine, it would imply the people are Jesus. Furthermore, we spoke of the many smaller strings woven together to make one big one. Applying that to Jesus would imply Jesus is many different people or things and can be separated, which is of course a laughable prospect for so serious a heresy as that would be to believe. PhuturePriest
Oh FP you are a sweetie Watch out: There's a rumor going around by several posters who don't see eye-to-eye with me that there is an "FP Fan Club" here, and with posts like that, you're sure to be thrown into that group. ;)

Miles, I think you would be interested to learn more about the nature of the Church as the Body of Christ. One of the best ways to learn about this is to read Mystici Corporis Christi, a highly praised encyclical of Pope Pius XII. Don't forget that Jesus said to Saul, "Why are you persecuting Me?" Pax, Clare

XD With me, it was a rosary, where the string is the Church and the beads are men, and the cross at the top of the rosary is Our Lord as head of the church; and when a bead falls off, it is comparable to a man or a group of people falling into heresy.
