Winchester
The moral of this story is we need to teach our sons not to take advantage of incapacitated women They already know. Winchester
This whole "we'll educate predators" nonsense creates a false sense of security. There are rare people who do something evil because they are thoughtless or have poor impulse control. But rapists are predators. They are not ignorant, they are predators. Like wolves. There is one way to deal with a predator and that is to kill it. Put a bullet in his head. Problem solved. There is no other solution. Not education, not nice feelings. Lethal force, that's all. Kill rapists. The End. Clarification: This will still not make women people safe. It will reduce incidents, perhaps, but what needs to be taught to the sheepdogs and the sheep is that there are wolves. And there's only one way to deal with a wolf. So be prepared. Don't let your guard down. You will not educate the wolf out of wolves. You can make them too afraid to act, though. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Woah there, let's not go blaming rapists for raping. That'd be cray cray Get your Cray on. If we all stayed in the sandbox/pre school this would never happen, literally this doesn't happen at bambi or other pre schools! Why do we have to grow up? I don't have to grow up therefore i don't have pressure, therefore i don't rape or other such hideousness. Sounds good to me. Still cool waters refreshing the soul is pre school, need to go there often drink deep and just chill and be a human being and not deluded to think one always has to be a human doing. I think rape is a doing problem, it is an action, it is an obsession to do and forgets or doesn't know the contentment of just being. O.T. "Be still and know that i am LORD." Isn't that bullet to the head stuff rated R, well it used to be but the classifications have gotten loose and it is probably now rated M because of the popular belief that people can joke like that seriouSLY or not? And we are understanding yes that both parties in the o.p are possibly drunk and forgotten most of what they have been taught or have an altered perception of what they where taught? PhuturePriest
"stop crying rape" implies that there are tons of girls crying rape who need to stop... there's no evidence that such a phenomenon exists. I do think it's worth educating girls that they, too, should stay alert and constantly evaluate their partner's ability to consent. "I was so drunk I'm not sure if my partner wanted to stop, or not" is not an excuse for them either. I pointed this out on the other thread but it's not rare for men to have forced sexual encounters. Of course it's difficult to be aware and on top of things if you're wasted, yourself. The other thing is that these discussions are always so "hetero-normative" (never thought I would ever use that word on phatmass). Rape occurs between gay couples of both genders, too. Woah there, let's not go blaming rapists for raping. That'd be cray cray You two need to stop your trains of thought. You're destroying societal beliefs, and society won't stand for it. I missed the most important part. So we can assume the sex is consensual even though the pair where drunk and the women has reported it as rape because she doesn't remember going home with the dude. So it could have been rape but why is she at his home, i assume she is at his home or dorm or her dorm or someone elses dorm. Although not very modest more than likely not rape, just a stupid mistake which we can boil down to the consumption of alcoholic beverages or excess consumption of such beverages. Semper Catholic
They already know. Everyone knows this. Being explicit about it might make it more difficult for them to justify it to themselves, but they already know. That's the thing though they dont. Google rape culture and do some research. There's a reason these numbers are so high. Society encourages a certain mindset from males and in most circles this mindset is cultivated and grown. everyone knows the scary back alley rape is wrong. The biggest issue is the no means no sexual assaults which are perpetrated by all American Johnnies in every American town
mortify ii
Basilae, my friend had consensual sex with a girl that later accused him of rape. It's a borrowing experience because you soon discover in the case of rape you're guilty until proven innocent. Fortunately this girl later admitted it was a false accusation, and she also blamed him for giving her herpes to which he tested negative for. The whole event deeply traumatized him. What disturbs me is that many statistics show a high rate of false accusations of rape (eg 70% in some studies) and the legal system is clearly overtly balanced to favor the woman's side. Now I understand this may have been intended to protect women and many feminists defend it, but what it's not doing is protecting the innocent. And believe me, when you're that innocent guy facing the possibility of jail time it's the biggest nightmare of your life.

mortify ii
Just to clarify, without going into lengthy debates, and without diminishing the seriousness of rape, my point is sometimes the victim is an innocent guy that is falsely accused. Incidentally, most victims of rape are men in a prison setting.

Incidentally, most victims of rape are men in a prison setting. The last sentence is incorrect. These topics are brought up like falsely accused rapists are an everyday occurrence. I've never seen a topic made about all the rapes that go unreported, which is a much more statistically significant number.
TheLordsSouljah
This makes me so mad I could spit. The idea that there all are these women out there trying to ruin the lives of men with false cries of rape is a disgusting myth perpetrated by people who have bought into the delusion that women are the sole arbiters of whether or not sex is happening and that men are nothing more that lust-crazed animals. Women who are actually raped and have the courage to bring their case to trial are almost always painted as conniving silly sallies who are just experiencing morning-after remorse. The fact is that a raped woman is treated this way by the courts means that a false cry of rape is incredibly likely to fall through anyway. So what's the point of bringing this up at all? All it does is reinforce the idea that real rape victims will not be listened to. It's a pointless article that perpetuates ideas that do far more harm than good. Totally agree with you gal.... I know far too many women who have been through this horror and can tell you that only about five percent actually report it. And reporting it was hell for those that did, tests and photos and all kinds of other horrible memory jerking things. The rest all just curl up in a ball and don't say a word because they either think it was their fault or are simply too scared. But here's my two cents for the article in general.... Men are defs not always the people with the problems though... I've actually had a video pop up once about a drunk girl who pretty much tried to rape a drunk guy... and she slapped and kicked the heck out of him for refusing. I must say I really. really. hate. it. when people keep going on about the 'uncontrollable sex drives' of men. This is NOT TRUE in all cases. And to be brutally honest, there are a few girls who DO JUST ASK FOR IT in some form or another. Okay, so I totally agree that men should certainly have control over themselves. That is indisputable. But seriously, would you leave a diamond necklace on a table without being locked away in at least a glass case without expecting someone to steal it? Yes, the stealing is bad and has to be punished. But why the heck would someone give them any greater a temptation? Why do prostitutes dress the way they do?? This reeeealy annoys me, and I'm a gal. I do think the point of the article was aimed at girls to have 'consented' in one way or another to having sex to stop crying rape when it wasn't really rape. Okay, so there's a grey fuzzy line. Yet clearly there are some girls who really should know better and it is aimed at them. But seriously, are those girls gonna put themselves in that category, or read something like this anyway? I think it's a bit of a pointless article, expressing an opinion though it may, because it's gonna create that fuzzy line in all those girls' minds, minutely guilty themselves or not. But that's just my two cents. Edited January 17, 2014 by TheLordsSouljah
beatitude
Basilae, my friend had consensual sex with a girl that later accused him of rape. It's a borrowing experience because you soon discover in the case of rape you're guilty until proven innocent. Rape has the lowest reporting and the lowest conviction rate of any violent crime. According to the FBI's own statistics, the false reporting rate in the USA is about 6%. Also according to the FBI's statistics, only 10% rapes result in an arrest and 4% in a conviction. The Department of Justice confirms that of all rapists, only 3% will ever serve any time in prison at all. If the legal system were "clearly overtly biased to favour the woman's side", these figures would look a lot better than they do. One in five women will be sexually assaulted at some point in her adult lifetime, which is a horrific figure - but the vast majority of those women are never going to do or say anything about it, partly because the knee-jerk reaction is, "My friend got falsely accused. It was so traumatising for him. What about the men??? We have to protect the innocent!" Statistically it is extremely unlikely for a man to be falsely accused of rape...but far more likely for a woman to actually be raped. Yet the myth of false accusations still gets centre stage in the discussion. SemperCatholic is right - everyone on this board will know someone who has been raped or assaulted, or will have been raped or assaulted themselves, and here we have people talking as though it's a get-out-of-jail-free-card that those drunk women use to excuse 'bad choices' and traumatise poor men, as though it's a rare thing. This is why reporting rape is such a very hard thing for victims to find the courage to do - the blame, the shame, and the fact that and the fact that the treatment you get from police and the justice system during questioning is not guaranteed to be kind, let alone just, and is often a fresh ordeal for someone who is already badly frightened to go through.
