The Book Thief

Cartermia and those in this thread.... the main Book Club is down to selecting finalists on the February book, and one of the options may be The Book Thief.   Kind of creates a dilemma whether we could have 2 threads discussing the same book at the same time...would be very confusing.

IF you want to discuss this with the other Phatmassers, you may want to think about voting on the Book Club thread and indicating how you wouldl want this handled if Book Thief becomes the Feb book.   Do you want to merge the two threads?   Prefer the Book club select a different book?

Trying to be respectful to everyone... be sure your votes are counted!

I voted for the Book Club and have been trying to keep comments here kind of non-revealing while at the same time not ignoring Carter's thread!  Maybe we should just suspend discussion until the final vote is in.  Anyhow, that is my thought.

Carter, would you put that comment into to the book club thread (if you haven't already done so) so people will be clear there is no conflict?

Because voting goes on until Sunday, but people may be selecting a different book not wanting to dis your thread.

Found myself there, in fact....

I think this is one of the most underrated books... I came across it by accident and totally fell in love. I cried at a certain part. I re-read it every couple of years because it's that good... everyone needs to give it a try!

In my experience you will likely have a lower opinion of the movie if you read the book first.

However if you watch the movie first then read the book, your likely to be more indifferent.

I have the book, it is on my to-read list for this summer... but just haven't had time!!!!!!

IceNine, you should put that you read it in the Summer Reading Thing thread!

I am SOOOOO curious now!   I have heard about it from SO MANY PEOPLE off Phatmass as well!

:bible:  gotta get to reading!

 harry potter

the movies were so much better

Oh really?

I never got to read the books when they first came out like all my friends because my mother regarded them as books of Satan.

When I was older I saw all the movies and i really enjoyed the story.

Now that I am 26, I FINALLY read all the books (all but the last, Im working on it!) and i noticed (at least in my opinion) that Harry comes off as much more of a temperamental brat in the books. Not all the time, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more frequently than in the movies.
