That's wonderful. But what happens when it runs out?

Well, at some point the aliens will come along and give us an endless source of free energy...

...right before they eat us.

This, exactly.

Same thing goes for saying that just because one doesnt align with the republican party doesnt mean that are a Marxist, socialist, or whathaveyou.

Not saying that you specifically said that, just mentioning it to everyone in general because the two seem a one or other choice on PM.

We will find a more effect energy source, most likely, in the next 200-300 years so for right now why don't we just use coal?

Because the coal industry is absolutely awful for the environment.  The coal companies have also done really awful things with West Virginia politics.

Yep.  Awful things like elect ex-KKK members to the senate:

Obviously a republican conspiracy to put such awful democrats in charge for over 50 years...  Our plan will soon come to fruition... bwahahahahaha....

Yeah.  The coal industry helped Robert Byrd out a lot and used that influence to get him to protect them in the legislature.  Sorry.  But unlike some here, and based on your sad attempt at using this as a retort I guess that 'some' includes you, I'm not a party hack.  Robert Byrd spent most of his legislative career carrying water for the coal industry and that was a bad thing.  he did a bad thing.  Now, were you going to approach this topic. With intellectual integrity you could have just pointed that fact out.  Rather than use his associations with the Klan, associations he renounced decades before his death, to distract from the debate in an attempted cheap shot.  Your sad attempt is all the sadder by your apparent lack of any sense of how ironic your attack is given your profile picture of a man who supported and justified Jim Crow throughout the institutions existence, never renounced the substance of his support (only writing a pseudo apology which completely misconstrued his original position to make himself seem like less of a racist, and then carried water for an awful racist like Ronald Reagan for the remainder of his sad life.

Not really.  I just find the reflexive Hackery obnoxious.  You had a perfectly legitimate point.  That Democrates in energy industry and/or conservative state often vote about the same as Republicans generally do.  But instead you make the same shitakke mushrooms and predictable sort of point that somebody like Socrates or Sean Hannity would make.  Given that I work in an industry where I'm surrounded by thoughtless spin constantly I find it incredibly grating when it creeps into other facets if my life.

My father's job has to do with the coal industry and trust me, we have plenty of coal, more than the 200 year oil supply in Alaska as you stated earlier. People always underestimate  the coal industry since it has been around for so long in the eastern part of the US but it is still going strong. China has started some companies that only by coal from West Virginia. Coal is good for the economy and will sustain us for a long time.

The EPA wants to shut them all down.

Lots of lost jobs, increased dependency on foreign oil, and higher energy prices.  But I'm sure it'll do wonders for The Planet.

As I said, the best plan would be to gradually lesson our dependence on coal and move onto other renewable resources, eventually not using coal at all. I'm sure the people who lose their jobs in the coal industry can get jobs in whatever renewable resource we find that's best. Perhaps a deal could be made that they would be guaranteed jobs in the other resource?
