Going On Retreat - Any Prayer Requests?

Thank you for doing this! Please pray for the complete and total healing of a relative from compulsive shopping and hoarding, low self esteem, being overly eager to please others at her own expense.  That she may return to the Sacraments, have a prayer life and relationship with God, take care of herself and her health, and be healed from all unwanted tendencies, behavior patterns, defects in body, mind, and spirit. Healing from all emotional, mental, personality disorders.  May you have a blessed and fruitful time of rest and recollection.

A few if you don't mind:

  • That I prep my classes well.
  • That dissertation work goes well.
  • And that my job applications lead to a job.

Thanks! :)

You may have missed Beatitude's deadline, but you are covered;   your intentions, and those of all phatmassers, are in my heart.... and that had already been sent along on the retreat.   :)

I have a little bit of Internet at the retreat and I am just popping on to let you know that I've been praying for you all. Tonight we're having Exposition, so I will remember everyone's intentions there.

And if by any chance you are a woman of any age thinking about religious life in England, you couldn't do better than to pay this community a visit. ;) They staff a nursing home for elderly people and terminally ill people that is attached to their convent, they operate a guesthouse for retreats, they have a beautiful community prayer life that harmonises perfectly with their caring ministry, and all the sisters I've met seem lovely. They're Augustinians.

I think I know which one you are talking about.  I've visited their website on a few occasions and they are a beautiful community.  :)

Beatitude those intercessory prayers have helped. I noticed it in how my last prayer time went. Keep 'em up and we'll remember you in ours.

We have only one Augustinian community of sisters with a healthcare apostolate in the UK (although they have communities in two or three different locations) so I expect they're the same. :) They really are beautiful. The sister who organised the retreat was one of the kindest gentlest women I've ever met in my life and I'm so glad to have got to know her. Attending Mass alongside the patients in the nursing home was a very special experience - the patients are always brought into the sisters' choir for it, all tucked up under blankets in their wheelchairs, and the sisters sit on each side of them. There was anointing of the sick as part of the Mass and it was lovely to see these very elderly people holding out their palms for the priests. If I live to be that old, I hope I'm still faithful, and demanding to be wheeled into Mass.

Thank you. :) I'm so glad, and thank you for the kindness of your prayers for me - life is very rough at the moment and I need all the prayerful support I can get. The retreat did me a great deal of good, as did praying for other people. It's the first week in a while where I haven't been in tears every day. God is kind.
