Phatmass Book Club Starting On Lame Board - Young Adult Book To Start

A Phatmass Book Club is starting on the Lame Board.  We're gonna be reading some YA (Young Adult) fiction -- we all decided we wanted something that would be fun to start with!

There is a list of possible reads on that thread, and if anyone else has ideas, we're open to hearing them!

So..... let us know you want to read with us, and put in any books you might want us to consider on the thread

We'll set up a list of possible candidates and vote for a potential starter book around January 6th.   Come join us!!!!

Thanks, IceNine, for getting us started on this!!!!

Sure, they are different puppies!  But close relatives!  And.... in case it is an incentive for anyone...... I'm suggesting triple points for anyone doing the YA Book!   (Yup, I'm a pushover on New Year's day.... not so much during December!)

Some of us are reading harder books than YA fiction book. There better be enough analysis to make it worth triple points, imo. I've never been in a book club though.

I'm in. I don't really have any suggestions on YA books beside the YouCat!

L&T I think that part of the triple points would be that you also have to participate in the discussion about the book.

Yeah, cause the young adult fiction I'm reading is some of the easiest reading I have read in the last decade apart from measuring page numbers and my aversion to multi-hundred page reading.

I timed out again but was in the process of editing this to:

Yeah, cause some young adult fiction is pretty easy reading, like the Rock Start Trilogy: Jaded, Faded, and Hated. Fun read though.

Actually it was one of the other Phatmassers who started the idea for a book club -- he has a thread for it in Lame Board.  I intended this one just to be an advertizement so no one would miss it!

I will say this, however..... when I was in college I took a class that unexpectedly proved to be one of the BEST ones I had in all my undergrad classes... and it literally was reading children's and young adult literature and journaling about what came up.

It transformed my spiritual life in a bunch of ways -- I think because it helped me re-attach to my child-like side.... and we can ALL use that, we all are way to 'grown up' for our own spiritual good.......  just something to think about!

So come down, look at the books that have been suggested... think about if you had any favorites (or still do!) and add 'em to the list.  This could be a lot of fun!

And yes, my logic is that if someone wants to also do the reading competition I had already started (goes through candlemas!!!!) you CAN count the YA book on that list -- and because it would encourage people to join the discussion, that IS why it woulod be worth triple.  SO>.... those of you who are crafty might find a BIG YA book and snare triple pages!  You can be a voting block!!!!!

I love YA books. In fact, my Master's thesis was on YA books. (I have a Master's in Library Science.)

However, I wrote my thesis using a chisel on stone, and I'm sure there are many current YA books that I'm not aware of at all.
