ClemensBruno
Thank you, Tab'le De'Bah-Rye, for your kind and understanding response to my post. I was a bit concerned that you might take offense where none was intended. Just wanted you to know that I empathize with your quest for piety, something all of us are called to do but few bother to even consider it. It is a very challenging quest with many hidden pitfalls and false markers. It requires constancy of prayer and reflection to avoid the many sins disguised as virtue that you will inevitably battle along your quest. Since my early youth, I was actively involved in apostolic lay groups, and was similarly labeled as you. I abhorred being categorized as such and, to this day, resist the impulse to label others. I think each of us is a bundle of contradictions, but that should not be an excuse to abandon one's efforts on becoming a holier person. Anyway... I used as my guide St. Louis de Monfort's book "True Devotion to Mary" in my quest. What about you? Btw, are you in Australia? ...Just curious about the "g'day" greeting you used. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Tab, you're right! I think what has happened is that it is 'left justified' as they used to say in the word processing world rather than justified or 'right justified' I think it is because there is no 'frame' around it the way some of the avatars have them -- even mine is a little left-leaning.... Much better your AVATAR than YOU!!! YOU want to align with the RIGHT! Did you notice that I found a second avatar with the Holy Family and a Llama! :) Haven't seen it yet. Is it on your prof ? Yes australia here clem.Outside of holy scripture the main stay of my saint's readings was St teresa of avilla 'interior castle' and st therese of liseux 'little ways' and a fun one St francis of assisi ' I Francis ' which is not a spiritual works by the saint but i consider it spiritual, it is kind of a spiritual biography from an outsider, i also tried to get into the catechism successfully but lazily so i only got into the 1st 8th really and the rest was just indexing, i gave my chatechism away and don't have one at present. I have tried to started to read some other spiritual works previously without really getting into it, although i read most of a book with bits and pieces from St John of the crosses ' dark night of the soul.' i really enjoyed that and i have read some of 'The rule of st bendict.'. my reading is dead at the moment except for daily psalms and the phatmass posters. I will add you as friend. Perhaps we can chat more about your experience of St louis de Monfort " true devotion to mary." I read a spiritual reflection of his once about how to approach adoration of blessed sacrament and ways you can devote your time in front of the blessed sacrament during adoration. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
And on the piety thing, i am my own worst enemy. Of course there are other obstacles of people, places and things but my self/ego and shadow/pride is the biggest mountain to be moved perhaps, i don't know :) but i'm sure jesus can move me too. Edited January 17, 2014 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
