nikita92
Breaking the faith or breaking Amish?? If so, what are you're thoughts, feeling and or opinions on such TV shows, actual subject matter? Is it a some thing you would be interested in?? I admit that I do watch both, even though I know(from past experiance) that these shows are actually scripted. What say you??
nikita92
So this is what Open mic is like huh?? No responses... How lame! I'm going back over to the estrogen infused VS. At least interaction with others is a sure thing.
Lilllabettt
Sorry you didn't get any responses Nikita. probably Christmas related. I am not really a fan of reality shows in general -- but the two shows you mention I refuse to watch. They seek to derive shock and entertainment value from religious traditions. Its disrespectful. I can imagine a similar show being put on about ex- Catholic nuns and priests; that will probably come next. Anastasia13
I'm caught some Amish show with Amish gangs, but I don't know what that is. I'm not sure what the shows you mentioned are, but I might watch an episode in passing if it has to do with faith or religion. What are they about? Cherie
I do think they're disrespectful, personally. They're kind of ridiculous, too, IMO...scripted, feeding on people's natural curiosity of the Amish, etc. I watched the much older documentary or two of the one gentleman who helps Amish youth leave when they want to leave the community, I suppose since I myself left the convent and felt a bit of sympathy for what the youth were going through. They were not so much "reality shows" as REAL documentaries back then, though, and they tried hard to present the facts but still respect the Amish faith. The shows they have now on the subject, though, are just not my cup of tea, I guess.
