ithinkjesusiscool
I don't know if this is just me but hasn't the world been missing one thing about Pope Francis: he is a Priest. It's always something about his comments on this and that, eg homosexuality or economy. It's rarely anything about his Liturgies (that also aplies to Catholics writer/journalists as well). What are your thoughts on this?
Luigi
I think a celebrity-obsessed world views every public figure as a celebrity. The non-Catholic world knows nothing about a pope's role, responsibilities, qualifications, or anything else. The media treats popes - at least the last three popes - just the same as they treat the contestants on Dancing with the Stars, or Beyoncé, or Barack Obama. Note that when the news' talking heads want to talk about anything other than style, they have to bring in some sort of Catholic consultant - often an ex-priest, I've noticed - who can explain, for instance, what an encyclical is. It's frustrating. All you can do is explain the real deal to your non-Catholic friends who ask.
Mary+Immaculate<3
My Protestant friends didn't know that the pope changes his name before beginning his papacy. It's kinda an uninformed world out there, but at the same time it's overflowing with useless information.
LouisvilleFan
Liturgies rarely make headlines.
cappie
Ask whether there are “substantial differences between [Popes Benedict and Francis] on the importance of the sacred liturgy,†Cardinal Burke replied: I don’t see it at all. The Holy Father clearly hasn’t had the opportunity to teach in a kind of authoritative way about the sacred liturgy, but in the things he has said about the sacred liturgy I see a perfect continuity with Pope Benedict XVI. I see in the Holy Father, too, a great concern for respecting the magisterium of Pope Benedict XVI and his discipline, and that is what Pope Francis is doing. http://www.zenit.org/en/articles/bringing-the-liturgy-back-to-the-real-vatican-ii
