Defeating " No Uterus, No Opinion"

I have been in many debates, but last night I got into my very first contraception debate. The phrase "No uterus, no opinion" was thrown at me. It's the most ridiculous statement, but I want to know how to carefully and articulately destroy this line of reasoning.

As a woman, I see absolutely NO value in this statement.  It takes two to make a baby so why should the woman get the final say when the father was involved in conception (unless the woman had artificial insemination which is already morally wrong)?

Care to provide a little more context?  How are we supposed to help you destroy a line of reasoning when we don't know what that reasoning is?

I think a lot of it has to do with where are these girls coming from and what their personal beliefs are.

Sure it takes two to tango, but the idea behind birth control is not to make babies...so men are irrelevant. And the way our culture operates in relationships now isnt just about two people wanting to make babies...babies dont really have anything to do with it. Its just about the sex. Women dont need a males opinion because they have already made up their own minds.

BUT from a Catholic perspective when two married adults are considering children, THEN the man should definitely have a say.

But it all depends on where these girls are at, what their circumstances are, and what they believe personally.

I would ask why having a uterus is required in order to have an opinion on contraception.  That's like saying that only children should have an opinion about sweetened breakfast cereal.  Or that only gun owners should have an opinion about gun laws (well that's pretty much the case).  It's like saying only illegal aliens should have an opinion on immigration, or only teachers should have an opinion on school curriculum.  Ask her if women who have had hysterectomies can still opine on contraceptive issues.  That should get her.

We moved past this, unfortunately, but keep 'em coming, people. I've never debated birth control before and I was kind of clueless for a little while. I'd like to be more prepared next time.

The most aggressive of the ladies has now identified herself as a relativist. I am incredibly excited. My forte is debating philosophy, and my favorite philosophy to annihilate is relativism because it's so easy.

The line of reasoning is "I'm a girl and you're a boy, so you can't have opinions on abortion or contraception. No uterus, no opinion."

You could extrapolate that line of reasoning to say if they did not wear a "collar", they had no right to comment when priests commit pedophilia.

While the two are thrown together they are 2 diffent arguments.

Abortion relates to Men and the dignaty of life

Contraception is hormonal....my goodness...there are men who may already be rendered infertile by the amount of contraceptives in drinking water...it totally affects you.

People have debated that there is a human contribution...but it's clear contraceptives either in humans or animals are causing horrible consequences.
