Penguins aren't Dominicans. I have proof:

humor-penguin-logic.jpg

This could be read as a sort of enthymeme and made valid by including the premise, "All old tv shows that are black and white are also penguins."

Unsound, but valid.

Edit: Actually, it has been a while since I have done logic, and am not sure about my reasoning here.

That explains Al the Mod's golden avatar, too!  WE thought it was an illumination... now we realize it is avant garde portraiture!

with a great deal of amusement from the OTHER Al... who thinks herself more like Al from Quantum Leap!

Couldn't resist.  I bet the skiers and snowboarders FEEEL like they are flying!!!!!

When I was taking Italian the teacher insisted that I learn to sing Volare (i.e., Italian for 'to fly')  and perform it for the class as part of an Italian Language skit we had to perform.  Oh great.

Well, the team I was on decided that we should use as the theme for our skit my then up-coming marriage to Mr. AL.  I was learning Italian so I could communicate with his grandmother, so they knew both that it was happening and that I was in the middle of the usual bridezilla dithers about not getting everything done and / or something going wrong and/or phantasizing about running away and/or eloping~!   (Well, Ploomf, Missy, etc., all the rest of you -- you've been there, yes?????)

Well the translation of Volare (literally 'in the blue sky' ) gave me both a great skit AND a really good way of dealing with those dithers.  Every time I started to panic, I would remember myhusband-to-be's eyes (his are brown, but a minor detail!) and focus on HM and the reason to dither disappeared.

So... dedicated to all those brides-to-be.... here it is:

In The Blue Painted Blue

Versions: #1#2#3

I think that dream like that
Will never return
I painted my hands
And face blu
Then all of sudden I was
Abducted by the wind
And I started to fly
In the infinite sky

To fly ho ho
To sing ho ho hoho
In the blu, painted blue
Happy to stay up there,

And I flew and flew
Happy, higher than the sun
And yet more up,
While the world
Slowly dissappered down below,
A sweet music playing
Just for me

To fly ho ho
To sing ho ho hoho
In the blu, painted blue
Happy to stay up there

But all dreams
Vanish at dawn because
When the moon sets,
It takes dreams with itself
But I keep dreaming
In your beautiful eyes,
That are blue as the sky
Spangled with stars

To fly, ho ho
To sing ho ho hoho,
In the blue of your blue eyes
Happy to be down here

And I keep flying, happy
Happy, higher than the sun
And yet more up,
While the world
Is slowly vanishing
In your blue eyes
Your voice is a soft music
That plays for me

To fly ho ho
To sing ho ho hoho
In the blue of your blue eyes

Happy to be down here
In the blue of your blue eyes
Happy to be down here
With you...
