Christmas Gift Ideas For Priests

If he's a diocean priest, yes, thats nice, but a religious priest would be required to turn it over to his superiours.

It would depend on the order. As your sweater story shows, some orders require that all gifts, whether it be cash or a sweater or books (etc...) be turned over the superiors to be used appropriately.

The priest at my Parish loves to travel, I would get him postcards or flags, both very small can be stored just about anywhere!

Think small and practical, yet unique!

Maybe a little christmas ornament with the Holy Family on it,

or socks! haha just kidding

:hehe2:

I'm not a seminarian, but i definitely wan't socks and briefs. Socks and briefs are cool as. :) Perhaps The OP could get a pair of UG boots if it is a cold place in winter. Good UG boots last many years.

Which shows you aren't a seminarian and likely have someone providing things for you....when you get older you will probably understand.  I have a good job, and I'm a female but I would very much appreciate socks.  Giving any female underwear besides your daughter or wife is socially unacceptable, but I don't know about a man giving other men underwear.

However, I think it's a bit conceded to discount socks as a gift...even the socks that aren't my style, I appreciate.

I was going to suggest a nice pair of warm gloves or a scarf...or both! I guess it depends on what state he is from. Im from Minnesota and a good pair of gloves can make a huge difference!

I have friends whose grandmother "adopts" men into her family by giving men socks (women get something else as a certificate of adoption). So if you want to say, "Hey Father, I'm adopting you a la Byz's friends' grandmother," that would be the way to go.

But seriously, get a flea collar.

While you (and I, depending on who it's from) would find that extremely amusing or at any rate a good idea, it's probably important that the priest have a good sense of humor.

Does he? If he does I could probably come up with something amusing.

Most priests in my experience have good senses of humor. But there have been the serious ones who wouldn't find the whole flea collar thing that funny, for some reason.
