OnlySunshine
I believe I'm suffering from a problem with noises. I have constant ringing in my ears (tinnitus) which I don't know the cause of. I live at home and my family drives me crazy, especially my dad, even though he doesn't intend to. The best way to describe it is a bull in a china shop because he is very clumsy and tends to be louder than normal (it doesn't help that he has profound hearing loss so he doesn't know what he sounds like). I did some research because this has been bothering me for a while and I found out there is a disorder called hyperacusis where loud noises create a disturbance or annoyance when it shouldn't. There is a similar disorder called misophonia. I've also read that some sufferers will think people are intentionally making loud noises to annoy them which is something I struggle with. My parents constantly think I'm acting spoiled when I'm really uncomfortable. The loud noises make the ringing in my ears even louder and it's unbearable sometimes. I've resorted to sleeping with a fan on every night because of my dad's snoring (he sleeps in the next room and I can't sleep). I've tried earplugs (which hurt my ears) and headphones and nothing seems to work. I really need prayers. Now that I know this is an actual disorder, I plan to seek help for it. Hopefully, I'll find relief soon. Edited December 12, 2013 by MaterMisericordiae
