jeffboom
I attended a Catholic middle school. One day the electricity went out. Our teacher made us pray that the electricity would turn back on. Back then I didn't think much of it, but now reflecting on the situation it seems like an odd thing to do. The electricity turned back on hours later. Good or bad?
CatholicsAreKewl
I remember that! I was praying for the electricity to stay off.
PhuturePriest
When my dad first got his current truck, the headlights would switch on and off about every five seconds. This made night driving a little bit dangerous and it made opposing traffic angry, as they thought we were flashing them for having their brights on. One night we were an hour away, and it was flashing really badly. We had been driving for twenty minutes, and they wouldn't stop, so we started doing a rosary. One minute in and they turned on and never turned off for the rest of the trip. Does praying mean this automatically was going to happen? No. Does it mean magical things will happen just because you said a set of words over and over again? No. But praying to God never hurts, and sometimes God surprises you. Praying in situations like that teaches absolute reliance on God. You should of course fix the problem if you are able, but that doesn't mean you can't pray anyway and observe that without God, you wouldn't be able to do anything. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
And i agree. Pray for the lights to be fixed simply. However that happens. There may be a spectacular instant miracle, or there may be a miracle of grace over time, or there may be no miracle at all for whatever reason. God is God, i am man, his reasons are his reasons, and my reasoning is faulty, sometimes, half the time, or mostly, i don't know, that's why i need God. :)
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I prayed for a murderer to get caught the day after the murder was commited the murder was commited the night before, and the man and his girlfriend where caught later on that day or the following day. Unsure if it was my prayer or someone elses or just the diligence of the police force that was the breakthrough in such a swift arrest but i believe my prayer definitely had some kind of impact. There where no witnesses. Onward christian souls. Jesus is LORD. St francessca cabrini " A missionary should be fearless, he that dares nothing recieves nothing." (i guess she was talking about prayer also, be fearless in prayer too.) Edited December 11, 2013 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
