AnneLine
The Phatmass Advent Novena is about to begin. As noted on the previous 'advertisement' thread, we're doing it between December 7 and December 15 because doing it a bit earlier in the month seems to work better for Lay People--our lives get too busy just before Christmas! The intent is not to add MORE stress to your life... but to give you a way of centering down and focusing your Christmas Preparations into a prayerful preparation. Each day the baby Jesus will come and spend the day with Phatmassers who have this letter as the First Initial of their Screen Name: Dec 7…………. A - C Dec 8 …………. D - F Dec 9 …………. G- I Dec 10 ………... J - L Dec 11 ………… M - O Dec 12 ………… P - R Dec 13 ………… S - U Dec 14 ………….V - Z AND Dec 15 An extra day for dUSt & the Moderators who served during 2013! Each day you can expect to find.... * A different 'Baby Jesus' image to enjoy * A link to a spiritual video to help us prepare for Christmas and to make our Advent more prayerful. * A prayer activity * A little virtue-type habit to practice or a task to do * A video link that is more for fun (because that is part of Advent, too!) Note: Some of the video links are refusing to imbed; if this happens, just cut and paste it into a new browser window and enjoy! If you have not already found a small picture or figurine of Baby Jesus to place near your monitor, you may want to do that now. Your first Christmas Card can be used. When you see it, remember to pray for all making this novena. In a few moments, Jesus will make the journey to visit the first group of Phatmassers. Spend a few moments right now preparing for Jesus to join us. Let's remember each day to pray for the intentions of the Phatmassers who will host the Baby. And now... get ready for Baby Jesus to come for his first stop in Cyberspace.... Is everyone ready?

THE Baby Jesus is coming to visit.... All PHATMassers with the First Initial A - C In their Screen Names! Pray for their Intentions! A Spiritual Video to Watch: Each day you will find a video link to help you pray and enter into the Season of Advent more fully. Use them if you find them helpful. The link below is for a 'Scriptural Rosary', which means including a verse of scripture after each Hail Mary. It can help to focus your meditation on the mysteries. http://www.scripturalrosary.org/annunciation.html THE ANNUNCIATION ..... just close the new window when you are finished with the Decade. A Virtue to develop for today: DETACHMENT & POVERTY All of us have WAY too much stuff... And way too little room for Him in our hearts. Part of Advent is making time and space to prepare for Jesus. A practical way to work on these virtues: * Select one or more of your own items to give away in the next day or two. * Give the item(s) away as a reminder of how much our Lord gave up in becoming one of us. * Consciously choose to make space for Him in your world over the coming days. And because this, too, is part of preparing for the coming of Jesus.... A FUN VIDEO TO WATCH: NOTE: If the videos won't 'click' cut and paste them into a new window. The link below is for a 'Scriptural Rosary', which means including a verse of scripture after each Hail Mary. It can help to focus your meditation on the mysteries. http://www.scripturalrosary.org/visitation.html THE VISITATION ..... just close the new window when you are finished with the Decade. A Virtue to develop for today: COURAGE John the Baptist had the courage to do what God asked of him. He Radically followed his prophetic call: "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God May John help us to be faithful witnesses for Jesus during Advent. A practical way to work on these virtues: * Spend a few moments in the company of St. John and his cousin, Jesus. * Think of a way that you can 'preach Jesus' in the next day or so as you live your ordinary life. * Follow St. Francis' advice: "Preach Christ in all things. When Necessary, Use Words." And because this, too, is part of preparing for the coming of Jesus.... A FUN VIDEO TO WATCH: NOTE: If the videos won't 'click' cut and paste them into a new window. AnneLine
PHATMASS ADVENT NOVENA December 7 - 15, 2013 Day 3 - December 9 2013: Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception Here Comes the Baby Jesus... Pray a Decade of the Rosary using these Spiritual Rosary links: http://www.scripturalrosary.org/nativity.html The Nativity A Virtue to develop for today: PURITY OF HEART and PURITY OF INTENTION This year the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is transferred to Monday the 9th! This exercise will help us to celebrate that mystery! Mary was conceived immaculate in body and soul by the Blessed Trinity. Their love prepared in her the perfect place for Jesus to become man. Mary can help us to learn to keep our hearts and minds focused on Jesus during Advent. A practical way to work on these virtues: * Spend a few moments just looking at your world. * Most of us admit very quickly.... that our world is NOT immaculate! * Find one or more spots that could use some extra attention -- decluttering, straightening, beautifying * Spend about 15 minutes doing something to make your world more inviting. * As you do the task, ask our Lady to help you to make your own heart more inviting to her Son, and more single-heartedly focused on His coming within you this Christmas. And because this, too, is part of preparing for the coming of Jesus.... Pray a Decade of the Rosary using these Spiritual Rosary links: http://www.scripturalrosary.org/presentation.html The Presentation in the Temple Virtue to develop for today: Wating in Patience for Jesus Advent is a season of waiting and watching. We recall Jesus' coming as a man... we watch for Him in our everyday lives... and we await His return in Glory. Let us stay focused on Jesus, the One who will set us free from all that binds us. A practical way to work on these virtues…. * Refocus your attention, patiently waiting for Jesus to come into your heart. * If appropriate, share with others how you find Jesus in your everyday life * Reassure and encourage people who are frightened by the 'end of the world' predictions. * Do a hidden kindness for someone, and remember that it is actually Jesus that you serve And because this, too, is part of preparing for the coming of Jesus.... AnneLine
OOPS! Should have substituted today's virtues and practical applications for Day 7- Dec 13! Sorry! A Virtue to develop for today: FAITH "Faith is the substance of things unseen." Every one of us struggles with faith. It must have been very difficult at times for Mary and Joseph to trust that the things that God promised would happen. And yet they believed that God would lead and inspire them, and moved forward in response to God's call. Joseph was a caring and protective father to Jesus, providing an example to all of us of quiet and prayerful faithfulness. A practical way to work on these virtues…. * Ask Mary and Joseph to teach you how to become more faith-filled and faithful to serving God in little ways today. * Repeat several times today: "I do believe, Lord; help thou my unbelief." "And Mary kept in mind all these things, pondering them in her heart...." Luke 2:51 A Virtue to develop for today: HOPE Hope transforms our lives by giving us a reaosn to go forward. It reminds us that what is impossible for us is possible for God. We move forward on this hope, trusting that God will be with us and that we can believe in His promises. A practical way to work on these virtues…. * Find a way to bring a bit of God's hope into the life of another person today. It does not have to be a big thing -- but a little, unseen act that helps someone to move forward. And because this, too, is part of preparing for the coming of Jesus.... Luke 2:51 A Virtue to develop for today: LOVE God's love is mysterious. We cannot imagine the depth and breadth of love that God has for humanity.... and for each one of us individually. When we find it hard to love, we need only to ask for a share in the love of the Trinity... and watch our own puny attempts be transformed in power, and yes, in joy! May the One who is Love find a place in our hearts this Christmas as we continue to make room for God and all God's children in our world this year, and in the years to come. A practical way to work on these virtues…. * As you continue your Christmas preparations, remember that you are preparing for the coming of the Lord of Love in your own heart... and in the hearts of each and every person you meet. * Resist the temptation to be overly busy this year in your Christmas Preparations. * Remember the One for whom you prepare is Christ the Lord. * Serve Christ in one another.
