He was always a very hopeful figure for me, because he began his work at a time when apartheid was just the norm and no one could imagine it ending. Sometimes I like to think of that when things seem impossible, especially as my second home is in Palestine/Israel, which heaven knows could use some peace and justice and where these things often seem far away.

 

It feels strange to post a prayer request for the soul of an internationally famous person - normally I post prayer requests for the people I know - but his writings left a big impression on me, so I am making one. Prayers for his soul and for everyone who did know him, and thanks be to God for what he achieved.
