Deus te Amat
It will probably make you cry. I am not sorry. That sounds callous. I AM sorry about your mother. I have been praying for you both. I am not sorry that the book will make you cry, because they will be healing tears.

AnneLine
DTA... I think it sounds fantastic... but I don't own a kindle. Will have to save up for one of the used copies... but will try to do what I can to read it sooner rather than later..... probably not before the end of this challenge, however.... Comingback
Hi Anne-Line, I had finished Theology for Beginners (254 pages). St. Thomas is my current challenge book. I also finished In This House of Brede, 672 pages. I think both of these got lost in all our wonderful posts!! Make sure these aren't counted already. Congrats to everybody!! We've read almost 90,000 pages!!!
Chrysophylax
Sleep with the Lights On by Maggie Shayne, 379 pgs Well... It's a thriller, keeps you on edge, but I think it had too much violence. I wouldn't recommend it, I think. (Did I already post Book of the King? I think I did, but I will have to double check. That book was good!) Chrysophylax
YAY!!! I studied Milton in grad school!!! When you get time, read C. S. Lewis' Preface to Paradise Lost. Ah! Thanks for the advice! I will definitely do that!
ChristinaTherese
Well, I just ordered a Kindle. (ETA: Because there's a limited amount of space in bookcases and ebooks are cheaper anyway.) So I'll probably use it to read DTA's recommendation. But it'll get here after Candlemas. I'm probably not going to read anything else worth counting (I don't want to count my school reading even if it would count, it's just too much work) before the end of the competition.... Sleep with the Lights On by Maggie Shayne, 379 pgs Well... It's a thriller, keeps you on edge, but I think it had too much violence. I wouldn't recommend it, I think. (Did I already post Book of the King? I think I did, but I will have to double check. That book was good!) Yes, you had done Book of the King. Well, I just ordered a Kindle. Christina, I'm thinking about a blanket 'school reading credit' for schoolwork - does 300 or 500 pages sound reasonable between now and end of challenge, or should it be more? (Lord knows I put in 1,000 pages a week easily when I was in grad school... but your mileage may differ.....) My logic is I'd rather have you studying and just have all the students get the credit for doing the reading they need to do for school work... but no one has to take the credit. It just makes your life AND my life easier to do it this way. I'm also hoping those of us NOT in school might polish off the books we have partly completed... if we all buckle down and do our work... we might just make that 100,000 goal! AND... if anyone has read THE FAULT IN OUR STARS remember to post it.... it is worth 3X credit as the Feb Book Club Book!!!!
ChristinaTherese
I'd give it maybe 400 pages max, since I don't even necessarily do all of the assigned reading (for two classes out of three I have been), and it's been about four weeks. I don't know... I've likely read more, but I don't care.
AnneLine
Thanks ChristinaTherese -- 400 pages Sounds like a good 'Reading for School' credit .... SO... attention all students: 400 pages available as a 'Reading for School' credit - if you want it... all you have to do is let me know!
Deus te Amat
A heads up to anyone who is on the fence: I just found out that the $5 sale only goes through Sunday.
TheresaThoma
For my training binder I'm going to claim 350 pages (I don't feel like measuring the width of the binder and they were full regular sheets versus a normal book page). I might claim a "work related reading" credit here at some point too. I'm going over documents (outside of the binder) and such right now trying to get everything sorted out and learn everything. AnneLine
I could get behind a 'training' credit as the same as a school credit... or you can tell me if it should be half the school credit of 400 or something. Does anyone object? Edited January 28, 2014 by AnneLine
