homeschoolmom
You know, this is rather off topic... but I was thinking today... If Phazzan pronounces Brisbane as Briz-burn and Phazzan as Farzarn... How does he pronounce Phatmass?

homeschoolmom
HEY NOW!! I'm just trying to learn how to talk Australian... How am I supposed to know which words you pronounce correctly and which you come up with some rediculous alternate pronunciation??? It seems rather random to me. No rhyme or reason to it at all. And you call me stupid... sheesh
Phazzan
Mom, it's like this. Americans have this strange and disturbing tendency to emphasise each syllable in a word, hence 'MelBOURNE' and "BrisBAYNE". Australians are more casual, recognising in all their vast superiority there is no need to glorify each syllable. Hence we say 'MelBUrN' and 'BrisBUrN'. Like do you Americans say 'Wed-nes-day'? Of course not. The moral of the story here, is to be more Australian. Be more Australian peoples!

Phazzan
Imagine that, we pronounce it the way it's spelled...
So do you say, Wed-nes-day and Feb-ru-ary?
but it all seems too random. How is one to know which words are pronounced properly and which are pronounced sloppily?
You need to become more Australian HSM, that's the key!
I was trying... then you called me a stupid American... I give up...
Vegemite from now on. The rest will come naturally.

What I don't get is when to toss in r's that don't exist! did you say, "Axel Greese from now on"?
Phazzan
Mom, February is spelt with an r.
p0lar_bear
Hey, HEY, I never once said I liked VeraMaria. Even if I did, she'd be too young to do anything about it anyway, for few years at least. But that's a different story altogther, I don't like VeraMaria (in that  way), I just want to help her overcome her infatuation issues with me. Poor girl sends me 20+ pm's a day, that's too many for my inbox folder let alone me. I feel so sorry for the poor girl, she's obviously in  with me, but I don't understand why she has such a difficult time admitting it. I think she fears rejection, but it's not like if she asked my hand in marriage I'd let her down bad, I'd try my best to be the most gentle and polite I can be. I understand she has feelings, and I don't want complicate the situation more than it already is. I'm here for you VeraMaria, but only as a friend. With  Phazzan
You are a sad, strange little man...
theculturewarrior
I tried vegemite once. I thought it was okay. But certainly not better than peanut butter.
