CatherineM
For next semester. I'm taking world religions, and the canonical issues of marriage. I'm going to take ministry to the suffering if they can talk the professor into letting me. I finally get to start my thesis in the fall. I'm thinking of the theology of conflict resolution or ministering to the mentally ill. I've already been accepted to St. Paul's in Ottawa for their canon law program. I will need to take classes for the rest of my life because of my head injury. I will be susceptible to dementia. Keeping my brain busy and learning can prevent it or postpone it. So, I might as well enjoy the classes. I intend to be the most over-educated house wife in North America.
Comingback
I worked for several years after the Protestant Seminary Experience as a "Housemanager" in group homes for persons with mental illness. I started a Bible Study and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I asked them what they wanted to study and they all pretty much unanimously said, "Revelation." I was scared at first, but we all talked and it was decided that if studying the visions made anybody's illness worse, we would switch to another book. They did so great! We kept going back to the Daniel to see where some of the imagery came from (at least that is what was argued by the person whose book I was using to help us study). When we finished that we studied Psalms and they wrote 3 psalms (thanksgiving, lament, and praise). I was able to be with them 5 years. I have seldom found people more open, more honest, and just plain old dedicated to reading the Bible.I would go back in a heartbeat. Doing your thesis on ministering to people with mental illness would be so awesome. I mean, so would conflict resolution, but you can tell which one has my heart. Good luck with whatever you decide.
