Soldier4Him
Awesome Ryan! I was curious how you got your start in music. I feel like God is calling me to do something, but I have no idea where to begin!
ryanmeyersmusic
if you feel called to perform music, then do just that. write quality songs and play them in front of people.
Soldier4Him
i've got 4 songs i feel really good about, anda few unfinished ones. I play them for family, friends, and such. a lot of people told me to pursue it, but i have no idea how to go about anything. I guess it has to be in God's time eh? ryanmeyersmusic
i'm not sure i understand your question... why do i offer potential fans the opportunity to listen to the whole cd? because i truly believe in my product, and because i don't want someone to buy it if they don't like it. i buy cds that i like because i want to support the artist, and because i want to own a copy with all the artwork and liner notes. i know that not everyone goes about the music-buying gig honestly, but i have to hope that much of my target audience will... ryanmeyersmusic
solider, have you recorded anything? alls you need is a soundcard and a 10 dollar mic from radioshack, dude. grab a copy of cooledit (or whatever the best free/shareware audio software is right now, i'm a paying soundforge user myself) and record. In fact, I believe that n-track studio is still available for free (a limited version) and is cheap to buy the real deal. That's some quality software if you ask me, and then you can record multiple tracks. feel very free to pick my brain for home-recording techniques. It's how I operated until I recorded my disc. what kind of stuff do you write? what do you play? why do you play it?
ryanmeyersmusic
AND... I may get blasted for saying this, but it's truly what I believe. God opens opportunities for those that put themselves in position for them to open. If you sit on your couch and don't call your coffeeshops, bars, churches, whatevers and ask them to play on open mic night, or whenever, you can't expect someone just to magically ask you to play. God helps those that help themselves. Get on the phone and call local churches and coffeehouses. Find out if there are open-mic nights anywhere in town. E-mail every youth minister within 90 miles and ask if you can play a few songs before and after their meeting sometime. Record some simple tracks that you're proud of. Send them to people that mgiht invite you to play. Collaborate with other songwriters. Ask LOTS of questions. Pray. Work. Pray some more.
ryanmeyersmusic
AND... It's funny that the picture in your profile is the "Just Live It" logo. Mike (songwriter of "Just Live It") produced my record and is a good friend of mine.

ryanmeyersmusic
if dust ever gets on the ball, you should be able to buy it through phatmass soon... then you could support two young fathers at the same time! 1 CD = 1 package of diapers... Anna's very appreciative of your support, I promise!
