Maccabeus
I love looking in pawn shops, and lately I've been looking to buy myself a mens ring with a diamond in it. I found one today and I'm thrilled with it EXCEPT: ...it apparently was somones wedding band :/ As a catholic should I be suspicious of bringing bad luck, karma or the other persons fate onto myself, If I buy it?! ...It's 80% cheaper than if I got it from a mall. CatherineM
I used broken rings from pawn shops to melt down to make my husband's wedding ring. Some had been pawned. Some had been traded in because their ring finger changed sizes. Some may have been lost or stolen. Some had been cut off in an emergency room. They certainly could have been from failed marriages. I knew a man who sold his to pay his son's tuition. My father quit wearing his when he went to work in a garage. He was afraid of losing his finger. My grandfather quit wearing his because he did cut his finger off. You can always have it blessed, or dunk it in the holy water at church. I should point out that the Catholic Church doesn't officially believe in Karma, good or bad. We had our rings blessed at our wedding. He wore it about a week before he became afraid someone in our neighbourhood would mug him for it. Now that would have been some bad mojo.
CatherineM
I should have made it clearer that the Church doesn't believe in Karma because we aren't supposed to be superstitious. Which reminds me that I need to take my lucky bowling shirt to the cleaners.
