The Holy Spirit

Would anyone here be able to recommend any good reading material on how to recognize the Holy Spirit working in the soul?. I'm particularly interested about this when fear is also a factor in one's ability to discern situations in life. Pax!

Maybe John Paul II's encyclical on the Holy Spirit, and some other papal documents on charisms.

Also, Ignatian spirituality is big on discernment, might try some Jesuit stuff.

Era Might is right.  If it's discernment you are worried about, Ignatian spirituality is a great place to start and Fr Gallagher's work is some of the most accessible on the subject.  The books are great, but the podcasts are free, surprisingly good, and to some degree can stand on their own without the books.  So start with his podcasts on discernment of spirits:

Good stuff, thanks, listening now. Really like the "earthiness" of the spirituality of discernment, trying to understand and make sense of many human motives, feelings, etc.

Or you could just get someone to pray over you to have the spirit of fear removed so you can hear the spirit of God. Or pray for it to be removed yourself daily for the advancement of the kingdom of heaven. Or both. If you don't already do these. And persist in these, St Paul tells us that persistance bears fruits of hope, and hope is the opposite of fear.
