Hi, I'm George Tautkus. I'm new to the forum. I do a comics series called Lives of the Saints (and people who lived saintly lives). I just finished putting together issue 6. This is the cover.

Very neat!

Didn't you make a series about St. Vincent Ferrer? I think I saw some of those and thought they were so interesting!

Coincidentally, I dropped by this forum to post something about my St. Nicholas paper doll--so I just read about St. Nicholas and Arianism.

Good luck with this!

I had to come back to add, after looking at your website, how much I enjoyed the St. Thomas Aquinas comic! They'll all wonderful, but I particularly liked the art style in that one (and in the St. Gertrude one). God bless you in this work!

Thanks! That St. Nicholas doll looks great!

Very nice work, your inking is impressive. If you don't mind me asking, what tools do you use?

I'm very slowly learning how to properly do inking myself, although not in a comic book style. I mostly do engravings, but I do other artwork as well.

You can see some here: http://weaselsgonarf.blogspot.com/

I'm tempted to pick up some of your comics. :)

Thanks Arfink!

I used to use really professional tools. Sum-E brush, crowquill dip pen, detail nibs, bristol paper. The originals would be as close to 11x17 as I could could get. Then, about 9 years ago my life changed to where I wasn't home very much. I had to figure out a way of drawing comics that I could take with me while waiting for buses, etc..

I starting drawing comics one panel at a time with uniball pens (or pens similar to uniballs) and sharpies. I drew them in books I made from computer paper that were small enough to fit in my pocket. I pretty much work the same way, now.

For larger drawings, I will use larger printer paper. I always think about how Art Spiegelman made MAUS on typing paper when I work this way. It's a nice humble way to work and the overhead cost is low. I use only these pens these days:

I use a standard sharpie marker or something similar for larger black shading.

I looked at your blog. Very nice. Did you end up making that cheese press?
